Zymeworks is seeking a highly motivated FP&A Systems Manager who is looking to grow their career with our company. 

This position will report to Director, Corporate Finance, and will be located in Vancouver, BC. 

The Manager, FP&A Systems is responsible for providing operational direction and functional support for Zymeworks' financial planning solution which is currently Adaptive, and its integration with the current ERP NetSuite. You will partner closely with the Finance users to identify business requirements, coordinate, and support implementation of system changes, troubleshoot and resolve issues, provide end-user functional support, and ensure systems are robust. As Zymeworks' business needs evolve, so will the demands on our financial solutions; you will collaborate with the business to help design solutions to meet those needs and create business value and lead the implementation of new systems as required. 

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Work with FP&A team as their business partner to assist with maintenance and management of Adaptive Insights for planning cycles, scenario management, integration of application with the ERP, AI updates, security/user role management, etc.
  • Play an integral role in the reporting, budgeting, and planning processes (i.e. system reflective of updated hierarchy based on guidance from FP&A for future org updates), collaborating with FP&A and Business Operations around timelines and process.
  • Ensure that the planning tool solutions are best in class and fit for purpose. As the new ERP is implemented and the business prepares for commercial launch, lead an initiative to determine what system is best in class for the needs of the business, and lead the implementation project to ensure the new system is successfully deployed, including the switch over and training.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (Payroll, Bus Ops, IT, HR, FP&A) to manage hierarchy changes and ensure that it fits with the financial planning calendar.
  • Work with finance users and business units to understand requirements and identify approaches to meet their needs.
  • Ensure data integrity between systems, including troubleshooting and resolving software, data, and system integration problems to support the Finance team.
  • Assess patches, upgrades and releases from application vendors and recommend whether to execute on an upgrade.
  • Validate business functions (pre-UAT) after installations, patches, etc. are completed by the vendor or IT team.
  • Communicate bugs, defects and/or enhancements to vendor and facilitate inclusion on product roadmap as needed.
  • Ensure systems meet all necessary compliance requirements.
  • Working close with IT, assist in the implementation, configuration, integration, maintenance, and support of assigned financial planning applications.
  • Understand and support manual and automated business processes surrounding the applications.
  • Work with assigned staff to understand and document the problem or required enhancement, research and provide a solution either on your own or with external consultants, initiate the project and deliver projects relevant to the application, while adhering to internal controls.
  • Working with IT, develop and maintain system documentation including system context diagrams, integration points, file inputs and outputs, other.
  • Provide ad-hoc after-hours support as needed to minimize business interruption.
  • Take a leading role in managing Company master data, ensuring all functions are aligned around a single source of truth. Work with other functional areas where numerical data is processed, such as HR, manufacturing and market research and determine the optimal system solution for management of data beyond finance.
  • Research best practice and assess the latest innovations in finance systems, presenting opportunities to the finance team.
  • Lead system training and knowledge sharing around systems usage best practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, Information Systems, or Computer Science, or a combination.
  • 6+ years of combined business/accounting/finance/systems analysis experience including project management, requirements, design, implementation, testing and support, preferably in a commercial stage biopharmaceutical company.
  • 4+ years of technical system administration experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting cloud-based applications.
  • A strong understanding of FP&A, planning and accounting.
  • Experience with fluidity of financial planning process, and to demonstrate flexibility to meet ad hoc requests and requirement.
  • Experience with NetSuite and other tier 1 solutions.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights essential, and planning system implementation highly desired.
  • Highly developed troubleshooting skills; tenacity and hunger for finding the root cause.
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organizing, and executing tasks.
  • Strong documentation skills, including requirements, specifications, and process flows.
  • Ability to interrogate and manipulate large data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach to work; ability to tailor approach based on audience and message.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision as well as effectively as a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust for effective working relationships across the company.
