Zymeworks is seeking a highly motivated Associate Procurement Associate I who is looking to grow their career with our company. 

This position will report to Senior Procurement Specialist and will be located in Vancouver, BC. 

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Assists with processing purchase orders, soliciting vendors, and reviewing requisitions while ensuring the fair price, accuracy and quality of purchased goods and services.
  • Creates, processes, and codes purchase orders in the ERP system.
  • Collaborates with onsite and offsite labs to ensure general lab consumables are stocked.
  • Assists lab staff in researching and requesting quotes prior to requisition in ERP.
  • Communicates with lab suppliers to place orders and initiates dispute resolution steps for order placement issues.
  • Monitors open orders and backorder delivery reports to ensure backorders are promptly acted on and fulfilled.
  • Consults with lab staff and suppliers to resolve defective or unacceptable goods or services and facilitates the RMA/RGA process.
  • Assists and communicates with cross functional teams on procurement-related issues.
  • Assists logistics team with supplier communication regarding inbound and outbound deliveries for the labs.
  • Creates and updates new vendor information and profiles in Zymeworks ERP system.
  • Completes vendor credit applications, payment terms, trade references and other documents on behalf of the Procurement and Logistics team.
  • Assists Procurement team in data collection, KPI metrics on suppler performance and reporting.
  • Communicates with suppliers to source samples and coordinate equipment demonstrations.
  • Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce landed costs and improve effectiveness.
  • Supports the Procurement and Logistics Team with cross functional projects.

Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma required with a focus in a business-related or science-related discipline preferred.
  • 6 months to 2 years of related work (includes internships and coop) experience required.
  • Experience working in a Biotech or Research Laboratory environment preferred.
  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality on matters that require discretion.
