Position Overview:
The Licensing Advisor Manager leads and develops a team of Licensing Advisors responsible for helping Zones clients understand, acquire, optimize, renew, and expand software and cloud licensing solutions. The role combines people leadership, licensing expertise, customer and seller consultation, pipeline and portfolio management, operational oversight, and continuous improvement.
This manager aligns team activity with business objectives, strengthens customer relationships, improves the quality and timeliness of licensing support, and partners across Sales, Licensing Support, Cloud and Software, Operations, Microsoft and other software publishers to support growth and customer outcomes.
What you’ll do as a Licensing Advisor Manager:

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload direction, and escalation support for Licensing Advisors and related licensing resources.
• Set clear expectations, reinforce accountability, and create an empowered team culture focused on customer outcomes, quality, collaboration, and business results.
• Manage team pipeline, case queues, service levels, performance reporting, and portfolio activity; identify risks, bottlenecks, and follow-up actions.
• Guide the team on Microsoft and other Tier 1 software publisher licensing programs, product terms, entitlements, renewals, lifecycle considerations, cloud transitions, and commercial options.
• Act as an escalation point for complex licensing questions and coordinate with publisher, partner, operations, sales, and technical stakeholders when additional validation is required.
• Lead consultative client and seller engagements to discover licensing needs, clarify options, identify optimization opportunities, and support new, renewal, adoption, and expansion motions.
• Develop and execute strategies and market plans that grow existing client relationships and support acquisition of new customers.
• Build productive relationships with customer, partner, and internal stakeholders, including executive-level contacts, to communicate Zones licensing lifecycle and software asset management capabilities.
• Contribute to proposals, presentations, targeted customer meetings, and other business-development activities that support software and cloud opportunities.
• Oversee the team’s customer portfolio against assigned revenue, profit, contribution, pipeline, and service objectives.
• Improve operational visibility and case management by refining queue views, dashboards, reporting, escalation monitoring, and service-level tracking in approved business systems.
• Partner with process owners to improve licensing workflows, case routing, knowledge content, reporting requirements, and handoffs across teams.
• Maintain current playbooks, job aids, knowledge articles, and team guidance; ensure changes in publisher programs, systems, and internal processes are communicated and adopted.
• Plan and deliver onboarding, coaching, knowledge-sharing, and readiness activities for new and existing team members.
• Evaluate new product, service, and campaign opportunities; prepare the team with appropriate talking points, process guidance, and enablement.
• Use data and operational insight to recommend improvements, support business reviews, and drive consistent execution.

What you will bring to the team:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least five years of relevant software, cloud, licensing, sales, consulting, or operations experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or people-leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience with software and cloud licensing sales, advisory, renewals, lifecycle management, or operational support.
• Experience leading a customer-facing or seller-support team in a target-driven environment.
Required Knowledge and Skills
• Strong understanding of software and cloud licensing concepts, commercial programs, product terms, entitlements, and renewal considerations.
• Ability to translate complex licensing information into clear, practical guidance for customers, sellers, and team members.
• Strong coaching, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, service levels, escalations, and cross-functional dependencies with limited supervision.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel, dashboards, reporting, and pipeline or case-management tools.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to set expectations and communicate status clearly.
• Ability to identify operational gaps and lead practical process, reporting, and knowledge-management improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of Microsoft product terms, licensing programs, cloud offers, and commercial agreement structures.
• Knowledge of other Tier 1 software publishers; Adobe licensing experience is an advantage.
• Experience with Zones internal systems and workflows, including CRM, case management, reporting, and knowledge platforms.
• Relevant Microsoft licensing, cloud, or software asset management certifications.
