Position Overview:

 

You will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data through meticulous analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, conducting account reconciliations, and assisting with external audits. What you’ll do as the Staff Accountant:

 

Employees employed in the role of Staff Accountant shall be required to apply their independent mind and demonstrate intellectual abilities in their decision-making.

KEY INITIATIVES AND RESULTS EXPECTED:

  • Analyze monthly transaction details to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare financial statement entries for review
  • Document balance sheet reconciliations for review which includes researching/resolving reconciling items timely.
  • Adhoc reporting and analysis as assigned.

STRATEGIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete account reconciliations, analyze and research balance sheet reconciling items and clear timely.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly income statement and balance sheet in accordance with monthly close schedule
  • Assist and comply with external auditing and reporting requirements
  • Provide resource for ad hoc reporting and analysis.

 

PROCESS:

 

List critical processes this individual will undertake to achieve targeted results.

  • Complete account reconciliations, analyze and research balance sheet reconciling items and clear timely:
    • Prepare assigned monthly account reconciliations according to month-end close schedule.
    • Document reconciling items and resolve identified items.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly income statement and balance sheet in accordance with monthly close schedule:
    • Analyze and explain fluctuations for assigned accounts.
    • Estimate and book accounting accruals for certain revenue and expense accounts.
    • Prepare journals for any reclassifications with supporting documentation.
    • Coordinate with the business desk around accrued invoices for additional visibility
  • Assist and comply with external auditing and reporting requirements
    • Provide necessary documents for external audits.
  • Provide resource for ad hoc reporting and analysis
    • Assist with necessary special projects as directed.

 

METRICS:

 

  • Reconcile accounts monthly and clear reconciling items within sixty days of original reconciliation.
  • 100% cutoff for P&L activity
  • Zero-dollar audit adjustments arising from annual audit and bank audit.

What you will bring to the team:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 

  • Comparable to 4 year accounting degree in United States from accredited university.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES, ETC.:

  • Equivalent of US CPA or actively working towards obtaining CPA license is a plus.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting role with a US company
  • General ledger accounting experience that includes complex account reconciliations, journal entries and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience with identifying and implementing process improvements. 
  • Good critical thinking skills (detailed analysis of accounting issues, accounting reconciliations)
  • GAAP knowledge and accounting research skills required
  • Experience working within a large ERP system and advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access etc.).  Experience working with a large EPM reporting system is a plus.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with an ability to work individually and with others to achieve department goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and thrives in a team oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
