Description

Position at MOZ Group

Fullstack Software Engineer

Kickbox is seeking a Fullstack Software Engineer for the Kickbox Verification product. We're looking for someone who can provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and produce great quality software.

This position can be fully remote from anywhere in Canada or the United States.

Diversity & Inclusivity: Kickbox is committed to building diverse teams where people of all identities and backgrounds are welcome, included, and respected.

What You Will Do:

  • You will have significant influence over the whole technology stack.
  • Write clean, maintainable code using engineering best practices (source control, continuous integration, peer reviews, unit testing, etc.).
  • Build a fast, secure, and scalable SaaS application. Our large global customer base sends millions of messages daily and they expect high performance.
  • Mentor junior team members to help them develop their skills.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Kickbox team to ensure we build good software that solves real problems.

Experience We Want To See:

  • You should have experience successfully shipping SaaS products on a regular basis.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members is a great plus.
  • 5+ years of experience working with full stack or backend web development. We don't really care what programming language you've used in the past.
  • Experience working with relational databases at scale.
  • Experience with MySQL and Redis is a plus.
  • Comfortable at all parts of the stack from UI through deployment and production debugging. We're a small team and sometimes that means you'll need to do things outside of your core role, like SSH onto a webserver and poke around to debug a problem, or figure out some esoteric Redis configuration setting.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment and communicating well with others.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Node.js services, Angular.js front-end
  • NginX and HAProxy
  • Cloudflare for WAF and other functions
  • MySQL (RDS) and Redis (clustered)
  • Ubuntu VMs in AWS and in a couple of racks in data centers in Austin and Dallas
  • Docker containers in Fargate. No Kubernetes
  • Grafana and Graphite for metrics
  • Nagios for system monitoring and alerting with some Cloudwatch
  • OpenVPN

About Kickbox:

Kickbox is an online software-as-a-service platform that provides software for marketers and developers. Our primary business is helping our customers improve their email deliverability (help legitimate senders avoid the spam folder) and helping them filter out fake, disposable, or abusive accounts during form submission.

The Kickbox API is busy 24/7 serving millions of daily requests and the application interface is a critical part of many marketing workflows. Kickbox tools support customers of all sizes.

Kickbox is part of the larger Ziff Davis organization, however, we're a small team (< 20 people) that operates mostly autonomously, so we feel more like a small company. We can be nimble and release features quickly without being bogged down with too much process.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Kickbox is part of the 'Moz Group' division of Ziff Davis, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZD). Ziff Davis has a large portfolio of brands across digital media and cloud services, including Campaigner, iContact, Moz and SMTP.com.
