We are seeking a full-time, permanent Team Lead Billing Specialist / Team Lead to join our European finance team.
Reporting directly to the A/R Manager based in Ireland, you will ensure the timely, accurate issuance of invoices, drive business cash flow, and manage revenue risks. This position offers many opportunities to work as part of the leadership team, driving process improvements and system enhancements. You will support and mentor a Billing Specialist, making cross-functional collaboration and operational ownership the key drivers of your success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Billing & Month-End Management
- End-to-End Ownership: Own and manage end-to-end billing operations across various revenue lines.
- Accuracy Assurance: Ensure accurate billing of pricing, usage, discounts, client contracts, sales orders, and tax/regulatory requirements.
- Financial Close: Lead the billing close, reconciliations, and resolution of billing issues.
- Month-End Support: Assist the A/R Manager with month-end close and assist the General Ledger (GL) team with month-end revenue queries.
- Provisions & Controls: Prepare monthly bad debt provisions and maintain strong revenue
- assurance controls to prevent revenue leakage
System Transformation & Process Improvement
- System Ownership: Act as the finance business owner for billing systems
- UAT & Testing: Lead testing, data migration, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and cutover activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Commercial Enablement
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with support and sales departments to validate information, resolve discrepancies, and manage processing issues.
- Query Management: Respond promptly to internal and external billing questions, resolving client queries and managing credit notes in line with company policy.
Leadership, Compliance & Audit
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and coach the billing specialist
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, and support internal/external audit requirements as necessary.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Undertake other ad-hoc finance duties to support the growth phase of the business.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience within an accounting or billing environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in a team lead or supervisory capacity highly preferred.
- Industry Sector: Proven experience working for a software company or within a high-volume subscription/usage-based billing environment is highly preferred.
- System Transformation: Prior experience with system migrations, UAT testing, or implementing ERP/billing systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Salesforce) is a distinct advantage.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is beneficial but not essential.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Languages: Fluency in English (both verbal and written) is essential.
- Data & Systems: Exceptional proficiency in MS Excel is essential, alongside a strong aptitude for processing high volumes of data. Competency in MS Word is required.
- Problem Solving: Excellent research, analytical, compliance-mapping, and time-management skills.
- Execution: A self-starter with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability, capable of multitasking under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range
Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The salary compensation for this role is $50,000-60,000 EUR. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
