About the role

In this position you will suggest, plan and make improvements to our growing infrastructure and wide variety of internal applications whilst working on your own initiative and as part of a team to complete project work from our project roadmap.  You will troubleshoot, manage, and resolve escalated problem tickets for application errors and emerging security threats, whilst maintaining and improving existing system monitoring (including; instrumentation, visibility, and alerting) and assisting in upgrading applications, operating systems and infrastructure to help maintain our security posture. You will also act as data centre SME and be the liaison to other technical teams & non-technical teams (e.g networking, compute, compliance, business operations) whilst having the ability to understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in timely manner

All about you

You will have a wide variety of experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems) with knowledge of working with both Linux and windows having previously worked as for example a systems administrator or DevOPS engineer. Knowledge of digging into the details of a system or process issues to solve customer problems coupled with experience in a mission critical operations environment across multiple data centres whilst also holding the ability and desire to speak and communicate in a virtual environment.

The tech skills

  • Linux Systems administration (RHEL/Centos/Ubuntu)
  • Cloud technology AWS, GCP, we're not fussed
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting)
  • Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP etc.
  • IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO)
  • Programming languages such as Python and/or Bash
  • Experience working with MySQL clusters
  • Knowledge of VMware and experience at scale.
