Ookla’s global network intelligence datasets and collection capabilities are utilized by C-level executives, network benchmarking departments, marketing professionals, and engineers at leading telecommunications companies, government agencies, and industry analyst firms around the world. We are looking for an independent, hands-on Senior Product Manager to ensure the successful maintenance and growth of our data collection apparatus, ensure streamlined delivery of our data products, help oversee and coordinate critical projects, and support other strategic initiatives across the organization in execution of the product roadmap. In this role, you will have primary responsibility for maintaining and improving our data collection and data products, and ensuring the successful delivery of routine enhancements.

As a Senior Product Manager,  you will need to be exceptionally flexible and have a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and business challenges. The ideal candidate will possess an ability to multi-task and independently prioritize their time to maximize business and customer benefit. They will be able to interact effectively across a wide range of functional roles and problem spaces, and will possess tremendous attention to detail. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people across multiple geographies.

Expectations for Success

  • Maintain and improve the information provided in our data products, make adjustments based on customer feedback, coordinate with the Software and Data Engineering teams to ensure that they are collecting and providing the correct data, and improve documentation and processes for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with the Product team to support the execution of the product roadmap and ensure success of the product development goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and manage tasks that need to be undertaken to complete projects or deliver product features.
  • Identify opportunities for process and product improvement and work with the Product Team and other stakeholders to advocate for and implement appropriate changes.
  • Collaborate with the technology team to help determine the best solutions, work through implementation issues, and strike a balance between “perfect” and “practical” to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Assist in translating the product roadmap into an actionable, prioritized backlog of well-defined user stories for our Agile development team to execute against.
  • Work across the organization to develop and execute go-to-market activities, including creation of messaging, outreach campaigns, and tools or materials for sales enablement and customer onboarding.
  • Become a subject matter expert on collecting and interpreting crowdsource network performance and quality of experience data.

Requirements

  • Previous product management experience with increasing responsibility and a record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Energized by cross-functional collaboration with changing priorities and proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex technical issues for non-technical audiences. 
  • Experience with SQL or experience using a data visualization and analysis tool, like Tableau, to draw conclusions from data.
  • Experience with reading and comprehending API or SDK documentation is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Jira or other development/project management software is a plus.

 As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Ookla provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,000 /year up to $160,000/year.
