Corporate Counsel

Ziff Davis, a leading global digital media company, is hiring a Corporate Counsel to join its growing Technology and Shopping division. This role would help support six different business units which include brands such as CNET, ZDNET, PC Magazine, LifeHacker, Spiceworks, AskMen, RetailMeNot, Mashable, and more.
The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced, business-minded, strategic corporate counsel. The ideal candidate should be diligent and proactive, have the ability to work on a wide range of commercial agreements in a fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail, demonstrate excellent legal and business judgment, be able to interface effectively with business teams, and work independently within a cross-functional and international business environment.
We want you to become a company resource for contract related questions and processes and someone the business can rely on for your expertise, and guidance. We also need someone to help to develop, implement and continually improve company and team processes and procedures.
This is a full-time position reporting to a legal department sitting in NYC and CA. The position is structured to be remote, with flexibility to work out of a company office if desired.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
● Primary responsibility is to negotiate and/or draft a wide variety of commercial agreements including vendor and revenue generating agreements.
● Prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
● Develop and maintain expert and current knowledge on new developments and legal guidance relevant to our businesses, services and technology.
● Build relationships with sales and legal colleagues and key stakeholders to effectively provide practical legal and strategic advice to assist the business in meeting its objectives.
● Advise on recommended courses of action and legal risks. Ability to judge when to escalate identified issues as may be necessary.
● Drive and contribute to legal projects as needed.
● Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as drafting and negotiation skills.
● Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal clients.
● Sound and practical business judgment including flexibility, creativity and good judgment in running legal risks.
Requirements:
● JD from an accredited law school.
● State bar membership in good standing.
● 2-4 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm and/or comparable in-house legal department.

*Note: Disclosure as required by NYCHRL, the base salary range for this role when being performed in the City of New York is $125,000-135,000. Compensation for this business unit specific role is based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, as well as business & company performance.
