Who We're Looking For

The Senior Manager of Software Development (SDM III) will lead teams of developers and project managers who are responsible for aiding with system design, functionality and usage success, and user experience to deliver against customer demands for the overall betterment of Zappos technologies.

This role delivers strategic leadership to the team that provides exceptional technical service, continuously improves team efficiency, employee engagement, and the customer experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Exemplifying our company Core Values.
  • Build best practices, policies, and procedures (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and set standards
  • Provide leadership for the technical team management and staff, including training, coaching, development planning, and performance management
  • Manages team workload, set priorities and goals, and provide daily support
  • Manage and develop employees across teams, improving their technical knowledge and engineering best practices are followed
  • Ensure software projects are integrated into systems
  • Proactively ensure architecture deficiencies are fixed and/or larger projects are identified and proposed
  • Facilitate a culture of feedback, communication and accountability
  • Able to lead teams that are working on complex software problems at the architecture level

What You’ll need To Bring

  • 5+ years professional experience in Software Development/Engineering with experience utilizing complex systems such as AWS, SQL, GIT, UNIX, and JAVA services
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience managing a production support and/or dev ops team
  • Experience leading remote teams preferred
  • Experience leading across multiple teams preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relative field
