Envestnet is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to join our technology team. This is a hybrid role, with in-office work required at our Berwyn, PA office location.

Job Summary:
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the support, maintenance, and performance of Microsoft SQL Server databases across both on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud environments. This role is part of the centralized infrastructure team that supports multiple business platforms and works collaboratively across IT and business units. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SQL Server 2017 or later, PowerShell scripting, and performance optimization in high-availability environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain SQL Server databases hosted on both on-prem and AWS EC2 infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain SQL Server 2017 and newer instances in accordance with standardized configurations.
- Monitor performance and availability using tools such as SQL Sentry, RedGate, and New Relic.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and database errors in production and non-production environments.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and support reporting needs.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, backups, and database restore testing
- Apply industry best practices in database security, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and application support teams to deliver database solutions that align with project goals and technical standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and runbooks.
- Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.
- As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- 2–5 years of professional experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment.
- Relevant certifications in PostgreSQL, MS SQL, AWS, or database administration.
- Proven experience with SQL Server 2017 or newer.
- Strong understanding of high-availability and high-transaction database environments.
- Working knowledge of cloud-hosted SQL Server deployments on AWS EC2 and AWS storage systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and distributed database concepts.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation and task management.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server administration and IP networking.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with other database platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake).
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts as applied to databases.
- Experience working in a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment.
- Awareness of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) and how they impact database operations (indirect involvement).
