Envestnet is seeking a passionate and talented Director, Engineering User Interface to join our UI & API Integrations team. This position is expected to report to our Berwyn office on a hybrid schedule.

Job Summary:

As a Director UI Engineering, you will be working on digital transformation initiatives for our next generation wealth platform using the latest emerging UI technologies. Use best practices in UI development to translate UX designs and workflows into a working, interactive, performant application experience. Actively work to improve quality, efficiency, and maintainability of the existing and new codebases. Share your knowledge and mentor developers. More than anything, our culture is our DNA. This role will work closely with the UX Design, Product, QA and back-end/API Development team - Building applications that allow investment advisors/clients to profile investors’ financial needs and objectives, construct portfolios to meet those goals, invest and trade their accounts, integrate with custodians and brokers, and provide analytics and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on Lead/Manager who will actively code and manage the team.  
  • Direct management of 5-8 front-end software engineers. Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal coaching and performance management.
  • Provide technical leadership in the testing, deployment, monitoring, and improvement of software applications as secure, scalable, performant, and fault-tolerant solutions across a multi-cloud architecture.
  • Mentor and create next level leaders.
  • Drive positive change in terms of streamlining processes, improving efficiency, and implementing key performance metrics. Work with the entire engineering team to improve the quality, scalability, and supportability of all production software.
  • Collaborate with product management team to generate a roadmap for new features while also incorporating ideas originating from the team. Work with the team to execute the agreed upon roadmap.
  • Contribute in CoE & Shared Component federated teams and also mentor team in those initiatives.
  • Collaborate with UX, Design System and Architect teams to carry ONE ENV Design System vision.
  • Empower people and foster effective engineering practices and culture in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.
  • Participate in Hiring process.Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.
  • As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk

Required Qualifications:

  • Overall 10+ years of experience in developing JavaScript based applications.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing React, Typescript, Redux applications (ES6+)
  • At least 3 years of Lead and/or Management experience in People Management, Hiring, Performance Review etc.
  • Hands-on person who can lead and manage a team of 5-10 UI engineers.
  • You have led strong technical frontend team leads and engineers before, building and inspiring a high-performance organization
  • Experience aligning technical roadmaps with business goals to help teams efficiently meet users' needs.
  • Deep understanding and insights at the forefront of the frontend engineering space, and an ability to pragmatically evaluate and adopt technical solutions to complex problems
  • Team player with positive attitude, who can work collaboratively with other members of Envestnet
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Professional experience working on complex UI platforms with custom components, features and the highly complex domain model
  • In-depth understanding of JavaScript, React, DOM and relevant concepts
  • Experience building reusable components and libraries for extensibility (using tools like Storybook UI)
  • Experience consuming RESTful/GraphQL APIs in a micro-service environment and collaborating on their definition
  • Experience in Micro Frontend Architecture.
  • Experience with one or more JavaScript code testing frameworks
  • Expertise in Test Driven development, preferably Jest and React Testing Library
  • Proficiency with browser-based debugging and performance testing
  • Experience using Git or similar source control systems and any CI/CD tools
  • Experience developing Fintech applications
  • Cultivates Innovation, not afraid to introduce new tools and frameworks to the team
  • Broader knowledge in other modern UI technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Managing FTE or Contract engineering team
  • Experience with Micro Frontends
  • Knowledge in Module Federation.
  • Experience in building E2E testing using Cypress/Playwright.
  • Experience in server-side UI technologies like Next.js
  • Knowledge in AWS cloud technologies or AWS services for frontend.
  • Experience with mobile app development (preferably with React Native) is a good to have.

Salary:

The annual base salary range for this position is $96,000 to $220,000.
