POSITION: Secondary Academics Intern

 

REPORTS TO: Content Director – English

 

POSITION TYPE: Internship

 

START DATE: June 3rd - July 31st, approximately 20 hours per week

 

COMPENSATION: $15/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Secondary Literacy Intern with a diverse set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, build transformative relationships, and eliminate educational inequities to advance social justice.

 

To put it simply, you will ensure that campuses are ready for incoming YES Prep students by testing students, gathering data, and organizing important academic materials this summer.

 

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training for administration and scoring of R-CBM Benchmarks
  • Administer R-CBM Benchmarks to new students at all YES Campuses
  • Enter data in Excel and/or other platforms, as needed
  • File important language proficiency documentation
  • Prepare instructional materials for the 24-25 school year
  • Support the Home Office Academics team and campus academics team with tasks as assigned
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Candidates must have flexible transportation to and from ALL YES Prep Campuses. This is project-based work, so the length of the work-day will vary based on the size and need of the campus.
  • Candidates MUST be available for in-person literacy testing the week of June 3rd – June 7th (hours that week will be slightly longer)

  • Serve as appropriate role model for YES Prep colleagues, students, staff, and parents;
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times;
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice, with little to no direction;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders, including incoming YES Prep families

  • Prior experience teaching students or working with the literacy team is preferred, but not required
