The Role: The Learning & Talent Manager acts as a strategic partner to the regional HRBPs and senior business leaders with the development and execution of learning and talent strategies that aligns with and supports the overall direction of the organization.  In this role, the Senior Learning & Talent Manager Americas will focus on the activation of global talent initiatives and support the development of local/regional talent programs/processes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for delivering a talent and learning strategy in the region, in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of training and development, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management.
  • Partners with HR team and business leaders to conduct learning needs assessments, determine what needs exist and finds creative learning solutions, using multiple approaches.
  • Supports the LMS strategy and encourages regional teams on the use of the tool.
  • Designs and develops the principles and overall approach to organizational reviews, talent reviews, succession planning, strategic workforce planning and assessing high potential talent, critical roles and developing individuals.  Supports the Regional HR Teams on the implementation of these tools.
  • Partners with the HR team to ensure robust development plans for high-potential talent within the region.
  • Operates as a change leader and provides thought leadership in organizational development & design.
  • Maintains clear understanding of the overall Xylem strategy and regional business priorities, and understands the related learning and talent implications.
  • Facilitates and role models a strong leadership and coaching culture. Assist HRBPs and business unit leaders in providing employees with development opportunities that align with current and future performance standards. 
  • Maintain knowledge of progressive learning and talent practices and key trends. Reviews and benchmarks the internal and external environment to improve learning and talent initiatives. Identifies and drives the sharing of best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Each of the COE Regional L&T Senior Manager roles will have overall responsibility for a global program/process area:
  • Manager and/or Early in Career Development
  • Owns the strategy and overall approach to people manager development programs.
  • Acts as support to other Regional L&T Managers to implement people manager programs and initiatives.
  • Determines annual training calendar Manager trainings
  • Partners with training consultants/vendors who support people manager programs.
  • Applies continuous improvement approaches to the program, by gathering feedback and staying attuned to learning principles and industry trends
  • Develops annual budget proposal, and manages budget over the course of the year
  • Performance Management
  • Owns the strategy and process for Xylem’s Performance Management (tools and training); providing guidance on best practices for goal setting/goal cascading/individual development and performance feedback.
  • Ensures technology helps to drive Xylem’s performance management approach
  • Develops tools that support the implementation of a robust performance management approach
  • Applies continuous improvement approaches to the process
  • Develops annual budget proposal, and manages budget over the course of the year
  • Employee competency development.
  • Activates the core, leadership and functional competencies required to drive the corporate strategy into global programs/initiatives.
  • Ensures technology supports a robust 360 degree process, aligns 360 processes with competency model and creates and implements a strategy for 360 degree feedback coaches.
  • Gathers input, creates and implements other manager support tools for creating robust individual development plans that drive a strong employee development/succession planning.
  • Applies continuous improvement approaches to the processes.
  • Develops annual budget proposal, and manages budget over the course of the year

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent skills in Learning, Instructional Design, Business or related field.
  • 10+ years of related professional experience, preferably in the learning and development space.
  • Substantial business acumen with clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between talent and other HR initiatives and business strategy
  • Act as an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Significant knowledge of learning, talent and employee engagement processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Workday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to identify new ways for learning and development to support the business strategy
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Previous experience/certification in an assessment tool and training (MBTI, SDI, HBDI, or similar)  
  • Ability to develop and deliver relevant, effective training programs to targeted audiences
  • Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy
  • Ability to collect and synthesize large quantities of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to recognize trends and develop recommendations based on data analysis
  • Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people
