The Role: The Global Business Services (GBS) Record-to-Report Financial Analyst position plays an important role in promoting and maintaining adherence to Xylem’s Global Finance best practice business process standards and common technology platforms.  This role reports to the Regional Process Owner for Record-to-Report for the Americas (RPO R2R) and is responsible for contributing to the efficiency and integrity of our accounting and finance processes and controls.  The incumbent will partner with other Xylem business units, support Global Business Services Record-to-Report functions, and collaborate with Regional and Global Process Owners and the Service Provider to analyze, reconcile and perform continuous improvement of our financial processes. The primary function of this position relates to the application of core accounting concepts and practices in order to streamline and continuously improve our finance processes, ultimately driving accurate and timely reporting of financial results and compliance with financial controls.

The ideal candidate for this role will understand the practical application of accounting and finance concepts in support of operation and finance activities. This role requires an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional capable of working in a fast paced environment while collaborating with various business stakeholders in administering the day-to-day operations of Xylem’s Global Finance program.      

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • PROCESS and CONTROLS – Involved in developing and executing effective business process standards and control framework based on industry best practices
  • COMMUNICATIONS – Responsible for ongoing communication with key stakeholders while fostering a collaborative work environment
  • ACCOUNTING Concepts – Hands-on application of core accounting principles
  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT – Continuously strive to identify areas for improvement in order to effectively streamline processes and create efficiencies
  • AD-HOC - Other duties as assigned, including ad hoc report requests and project work
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field, plus a minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience in a Corporate Finance environment is preferred
  • CPA Preferred
  • Solid core accounting skills; audit background a plus
  • Experience in manufacturing related financial statement and accounting practices
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with high attention to detail, demonstrating an ability to identify root causes, generate and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions
  • Self-starter who can prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, navigate complexities, and be successful in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Agent of change; lean methodology a plus
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field, plus a minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience in a Corporate Finance environment is preferred
  • CPA Preferred
  • Solid core accounting skills; audit background a plus
  • Experience in manufacturing related financial statement and accounting practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar ERPs highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Hyperion and / or OneStream
  • Knowledge in BlackLine, Trintech, or other reconciliation and financial close management software


This position can be based and performed in any location in the United States, except Colorado
