The Role:

The Business Intelligence Analyst and Reporting Developer will serve as a technical subject matter expert in the area of Business Intelligence (BI), specifically on frontend reporting applications, under the Enterprise Applications – Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing department.

In this position, will be part of the department’s BI Functional team focused on understanding Xylem’s enterprise analytic requirements and for the development and support of frontend reporting applications.

This position can be based and performed in any location in the United States, except Colorado

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Engage with different business units and IT groups in understanding analytic requirements and work with the BI team in providing time and effort estimations and functional specifications
  • Work with the BI & DW team in developing and maintaining Xylem’s PowerBI enterprise environment and supported reporting applications
  • Build reports and dashboards in PowerBI according to requirement
  • Work with the data warehousing architect/developers in information and concept modeling
  • Provide end user training and support on PowerBI functionality and published enterprise reports across Xylem’s business units and sales companies
  • Work with the BI & DW team on designing, modifying, and monitoring PowerBI enterprise datasets from various sources.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work on assigned development projects following Xylem’s BI strategy, standards, and principles
  • Collaborate with functional experts, database administrators, and/or infrastructure support teams as required in project or support work
  • Serve as project manager for assigned small to medium BI & DW projects when required
  • Provide development support as needed for other legacy reporting tools – SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Tableau
  • Collaborate with other colleagues within the team in ensuring that work requirements are met and delivered according to commitment and quality standards
  • Perform change management according to prescribed company processes, including migrating changes through testing environments and into the production environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar capacity or with the with the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (PowerBI/SSAS/SSRS) and at least two years of experience on Power BI Service
  • Expert in data visualization and creating analytic solutions that are user intuitive and visually appealing
  • Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledgeable in enterprise business processes and data such as finance, sales, inventory, etc.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, able to set priorities and translate specific goals into action and follow through to achieve goals and execute projects with minimal oversight
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed
  • Experience participating in and managing complex projects an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in creating custom calculations in Power BI using DAX scripting
  • Proficient in data transformation in Power BI using M scripting
  • Experience optimizing large tabular model datasets in Power BI or Analysis Services
  • Experience in building reports SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence and/or Tableau
  • Experience in BI project management.

  • Shop: Regular exposure to all outdoor weather conditions; intermittent exposure to shop and job site noise.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40+
