Our Eastern Europe Region generates approximately $160M revenues and is one of our fastest growing regions. The Regional Finance Director is responsible for directly supporting the region’s Regional Director, country Managing Directors and commercial teams with analysis and insight on the region’s strategic objectives, including identifying risks and opportunities, driving actions to achieve optimal working capital targets and levels, and supporting and challenging sales teams.  This position has financial oversight for the entire region, leading and developing the finance team, driving process efficiency and work/ life balance through continuous improvement, and ensuring the business maximizes shareholder value.   

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead on-going strategic reviews of product sales & profitability trends to support pricing and investment decisions, measure sales force effectiveness, and drive revenue growth faster than market growth rates
  • Develop a Management Information System leveraging Xylem’s Enterprise Data Warehouse including weekly Flash reports, key sales & orders analysis , backlog analysis, and other monthly/ ad hoc reporting/ KPIs/ KBMs to monitor progress towards maximizing sales, standard margin Salesmen performances; highlighting and analyzing unexpected variances; proactively identifying and mitigating risks; and finding and executing opportunities to achieve or exceed business commitments
  • Coordinate weekly revenue outlook submission.  Understand weekly changes, challenge as appropriate, develop countermeasures to ensure attainment of financial goals
  • Customer/ key account commercial strategy metrics and follow-up
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes in areas such as pricing, discounting, payment terms, and market share
  • Proactively identify and communicate sales risks & opportunities and aligning on market growth rates, market share, pricing, discounting, book & bill, and inorganic growth assumptions & actuals
  • Work with Service and Rental Managers to drive profitable growth. 
  • Work with Credit & collections in execution of strategies including establishing and maintaining customer credit terms aligned to corporate policies; support collections activities and identify potential bad debt exposures.
  • Improve forecast accuracy through understanding of end markets, geographic and seasonal dynamics.  Challenge assumptions made by sales personnel
  • Collaborate with Operations Finance team regarding the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning Process (SIOP or S&OP) to ensure alignment between manufacturing production, distribution company stocking, & sales company purchasing needs in order to optimize working capital and On-Time Delivery
  • Drive automation and improvements throughout region with respects to Power BI and 80/20 approach
  • Analysis of sales channel performance – direct vs. indirect, understanding growth opportunities
  • Preparation of Monthly and Quarterly internal reports and presentations to executive management and regional leadership teams
  • Lead, assess, and provide feedback to fully develop high-performing team.  Ensure effective succession plan
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements in financial forecasting and reporting processes througout region.

  • Assess current talent and determine staffing levels and strategic plans for talent development and succession planning, including establishing clear objectives, communicating specific performance feedback, and giving timely and thorough performance reviews (CPG)
  • Drive process efficiency and work/ life balance through continuous improvement, ensuring the business maximizes shareholder value
  • Develops and/or administers functional objectives, operating policies and procedures, budget and strategic action plans for achieving goals
  • Serve as business partner to support corporate and regional initiatives and make recommendations concerning Sales strategies, Operational profile, and working capital  to improve financial performance and support operational excellence.
  • Finance referent for the regional sales team, and provide coaching to the EE leadership

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification: 

Required Qualifications: 

Minimal education & experience, essential skills & abilities and required license/certification to perform this job. 

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Significant change management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and HFM skills
  • Experience in US GAAP
