The Commercial Bid Manager, Xylem MET has overall responsibility for all MET bids. The role is responsible for managing a team of subject matter experts and specialists, by leading the sourcing, review and bid submission for contracts and projects and also triaging customer enquiries from a variety of industry sectors that include commercial building services, government sector and general industry.  

The objective is to ensure all bids are commercially viable and profitable, technically sound and delivers on the customer experience. Integral to this is also managing the transition from bid to delivery with the project delivery team, ensuring that all requirements and deliverables are clearly communicated.

The incumbent requires Engineering, Water and wastewater process and broad industry expertise working collaboratively across functions and key stakeholders to deliver customer satisfaction.  He/she is expected to be an ambassador for Xylem with key industry or professional associations/bodies and acts as a key strategic leader working with sales, commercial operations and product marketing, application and engineering teams.



  1. Strengthen Customer Experience
  • Collaborate and coordinate bids with the Sales team, including leading the Go/No Go decision process and provide visibility of enquiries and bids status & progress for the business, financially and transitionally
  • Provides advice and support to customers and collaborates with Product Marketing, Application and Engineering for more complex enquiries on a range of Xylem products to service valid customer requirements
  • Manage and optimise resource allocation by collaborating with the wider team to source, review and submit bids on time, ensuring any customer communication is timely and professional.
  • Develop and implement metrics, processes and best practices in improving service quality to customers with the bid team.
  • Build, implement, improve and enforce strong commercial and operational review to ensure bids are commercially variable and profitable whilst remaining competitive and attractive to customer
  • Involvement in forecasting, pricing changes, reporting, budgeting and analysis as required.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are in place and adhered to and company pricing, safety and quality standards including those related to suppliers are adhered to at all times.
  • Collaborate across functions in the business to deliver a strong technical solution
  • Documents and communicates bid to delivery handovers clearly to project delivery teams
