Xperi (NYSE: XPER) is a publicly traded technology company headquartered in San Jose, CA with over 1,800 employees across North America, Europe and Asia. Come join a thriving team where you can play an integral role in shaping the future of entertainment technology.
About the role:
We are a leading entertainment company dedicated to delivering innovative advertising solutions. Our team is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance the digital advertising experience for our clients.
We are seeking a skilled Staff Software Engineer with expertise in developing performant advertising services in GOLang in cloud environments to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advertising technology, including advertising signals and global privacy signals.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Architecture & System Design
- Own end-to-end architecture of the Golang ad proxy, including oRTB bid request construction, fan-out to DSP/SSP partners, VAST/VMAP response handling, and SSAI integration points — ensuring systems meet sub-200ms auction SLAs at production scale.
- Drive architecture submissions for major system changes and get consensus from senior architects; produce design documents that define component boundaries, failure modes, data contracts, and scalability ceilings for sign-off across engineering and product.
- Evaluate between competing architectural approaches and present trade-offs to be able to take the right decision for the product architecture.
- Work with site reliability to define connection pool strategies, goroutine lifecycle management, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation under partner unavailability.
Programmatic Ad Tech Leadership
- Serve as the internal authority on OpenRTB 2.x/3.0 specification compliance — bid request signal quality, impression object construction, privacy signal propagation (GDPR TCF, CCPA, GPP), and schain/pchain supply chain transparency requirements.
- Drive fill rate and bid win rate improvement by diagnosing and resolving bid stream signal gaps, floor price misconfigurations, creative attribute mismatches, and partner-specific bid logic issues.
- Own the signal quality audit framework: define what "good" looks like for each field in the bid request (device, user, content, regs objects), instrument the pipeline to detect signal degradation, and drive remediation.
- Establish and maintain VAST/VMAP error rate baselines; lead root cause investigations for creative rendering failures, timeout spikes, and impression discrepancies in collaboration with AdOps.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development using GOLang.
- Prior experience developing performant oRTB workflows.
- Strong proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCS).
- Strong background in advertising technology, including ad serving, corresponding ad and privacy signals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages or frameworks (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python).
