VP of Finance

Accounting/Finance Milpitas, California


The Vice President of Finance for XL Industries will be instrumental in leading XL’s finance and accounting departments.   Reporting to the CFO, you will act as the operational leader of the finance department supporting the departments and operations as well as CFO, freeing up the CFO to focus on company strategic initiatives.  XL has a well-established accounting department and recently started an FP&A group; it will be your job to ensure their continued development as XL continues to grow into a large regional general contractor approaching $1 billion in revenue.  Other keys to success with this position include having a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to change the reporting and tasks as the needs of the business change.

Directing accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, job cost, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting.
Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
Manage the subcontractor prequalification process, reviewing subcontractor financials when necessary to determine if the subcontractors qualify to do work for XLPrepare reports and transactions for shareholder program
Developing cash forecasting at the company level and providing input on deployment of capital
Coordinating and continue the development of relationships with banks, insurance broker, and sureties.
Maintaining existing accounting policies and systems, working with staff to develop new ones where needed. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Managing both the general contracting and wholly owned trade entities’ accounting teams
Producing consolidated results for the company (holding company with 4 operating subsidiaries)
Work with CFO focusing on financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
Coordinating and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Coordinating and/or preparing required tax schedules and information.
Managing all tax compliance for all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
Be primary contact for external auditors ensuring an accurate and smooth audit
Review all board packets and provide necessary schedules and reporting
Advise the operational vice presidents, being their financial advocate
Ensure the accurate and timely consolidation of all subsidiaries
Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
10 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
Experience in a construction business or another related industry with project costing
Recent experience managing a team of 15 in a company with over $300m in revenue.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA preferred but not required.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
