With a strong focus on client service, technical excellence, and mentoring, the Senior PM balances hands-on problem solving with strategic oversight. This role is ideal for a proven builder with the ability to lead both process and people, and a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver successful education construction projects in dynamic environments.
 
What You Will Do: 
Project Leadership & Delivery 
  • Lead all aspects of one large, complex project or multiple smaller projects simultaneously
  • Oversee all phases of project management: estimating, procurement, submittals, RFIs, budgeting, forecasting, billing, scheduling, turnover, and closeout
  • Partner with Superintendents and field leaders to ensure jobsite success and schedule adherence
  • Manage project permits, inspections, testing, and procurement activities with minimal disruption to schedule
  • Identify and resolve challenges proactively across teams and field operations
Preconstruction & Business Development 
  • Lead new project pursuits including proposals, estimates, and schedule development
  • Support Middle and End Game business development activities
  • Guide conceptual and detailed estimating through GMP submission and budget management
  • Drive the bid process and lead subcontractor selection, buyout, and contract execution
  • Develop contracts that minimize risk and enhance profitability
Team Development & Client Relationships 
  • Mentor, coach, and develop project staff across multiple roles and experience levels
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, owners, and trade partners
  • Lead OAC meetings and external project communications with consistency and professionalism
  • Promote XL’s values and culture in every interaction—internally and externally
Innovation, Integration & Culture 
  • Utilize and promote the use of VDC, Sustainability, Lean practices, and other XL tools/resources
  • Champion XL’s safety culture; support development and enforcement of safety protocols and training
  • Uphold XL’s commitment to operational excellence, integrity, and team-first leadership
 
What You Will Bring: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive construction experience with a focus on Education projects (K-12, or community college/university and/or public school) 
  • Strong understanding of varied project delivery methods including design-build and design-assist
  • Experience leading technical teams and large, complex construction projects
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and coordination across all trades, including MEP
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 10, LEED AP, DBIA
  • Proficiency with MS Project, PowerPoint, and Timberline
  • Expert knowledge of Viewpoint (Vista) strongly preferred
  • Strong conceptual and unit cost estimating skills
  • Ability to create and manage detailed project schedules
  • Clear, confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership presence with a focus on team development
  • Creative problem-solver with a proactive and strategic mindset
  • Ability to build trust with clients, team members, and trade partners
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in all situations
 
Compensation: 
In accordance with California’s pay transparency requirements, the base salary range for this position is $190,000 – $210,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Total compensation may also include performance-based bonuses.
