Sr Communications Specialist
Description
Position Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic communications professional to join our team! You will be responsible for leading communications initiatives that increase brand visibility and position XL Construction for future growth. The ideal candidate will possess skills in digital, social media, and written communications and keen attention to detail. Collaboration with individuals and teams throughout our organization will be essential to success in this role.
Responsibilities
External Communications
- Plans and oversees regular and timely updates to all company websites and monitors performance
- Assists with identifying PR opportunities and creating informative and interesting articles, newsletters, press releases, and related marketing materials
- Identifies speaking and award opportunities and develops winning abstracts and responses
- Develops messaging and materials for product / service launches, events and other promotions
- Assists with identifying advertising and sponsorship opportunities and developing ad messaging and content
- Supports development of social media strategy and maintains social media properties
- Capture analytics and metrics on website traffic, social media, and media coverage of the organization’s brands to gain insights and course correct to increase engagement.
Internal Communications
- Assists with management of company intranet (MILO)
- Oversees production of internal newsletter
- Supports communications activities (presentation development, invitation messaging, social media, etc) associated with key corporate events, including quarterly All-Hands Meetings, annual holiday gatherings, Coffee Chats
- Coordinates ongoing capture of stories and visuals from projects, including project photography and videography
- Explores new and creative opportunities to enhance employee engagement
- Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
- Content library organization and management
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in the AEC industry
- Degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field preferred
- Strong knowledge of current communications practices and techniques
- Excellent design sense with a high level of creativity
- Strong technical proficiency in:
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Canva
- Microsoft Office
- Project management tools such as Asana, Basecamp
- CRM systems such as Salesforce, Deltek, Unanet
- Social media management tools such as Hootsuite
- CMS systems for websites such as Wix, Wordpress
- Company intranet platforms such as Interact
Skills and Abilities
- Technical Ability: excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail
- Industry Knowledge: basic understanding of the business of the AEC industry
- Collaboration: ability to build constructive and effective relationships at all levels internally and externally
