Junior Financial Analyst
Description
Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to support the full financial lifecycle of government contracts, from proposal pricing and award through forecasting, program financial management, contract modifications, and financial performance analysis. The Junior Financial Analyst will help Operations, Program Management, Business Development, Pricing, and executive leadership understand how proposed assumptions translate into actual contract economics, profitability, cash flow, and operational performance after award.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in financial analysis. This role will provide an opportunity to develop financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting skills while supporting a highly collaborative team. The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn new technologies, systems, and processes.
Location: McLean, VA with some hybrid flexibility
Financial Analysis & Forecasting
- Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support management decision-making.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and assist with communicating findings to management, including monitoring backlog.
- Assist with annual budgeting, long-range planning, and forecasting activities.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast and assist with explanations for material variances.
- Assist program managers with financial reporting, financial forecasting, and resource planning.
- Ensure billing information is accurate for all projects, including the correct CLINs, PLCs, and POPs on the contract.
- Assist with pricing exercises from delivery and capture teams for contract modifications and extensions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant financial analysis, government contracting, accounting, business analysis, or related experience.
- Basic understanding of financial analysis and willingness to develop knowledge of government contracting.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and formulas.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with appropriate guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, Deltek T&E, or another government contracting ERP/accounting system.
- Familiarity with T&M, FFP, Cost-Plus, and IDIQ/task order contracts.
- Experience with Power BI, OneStream, CostPoint or other business intelligence/reporting tools is a plus.
