X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Xe-100 Systems Development team in the role of Manager, Steam Generator Systems. This position manages the group responsible for development of the Steam Generator Systems (SGS). This includes systems engineering, analysis, design, and drafting for the SGS for the Xe-100 reactor. This includes directing the work of individual contributors on the team, managing the resource and organizational needs of the engineering team, and assisting with the analysis, testing, and prototype development of systems, structures, and components for the SGS.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Manage the execution of the system development including systems engineering design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned project using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership over the SGS system and component design.
  • Is ultimately responsible and accountable for the cost of the system and needs to ensure that designs meet the economic cost metrics laid out by the project.
  • Identifies, manages and reports out on technical risks for systems and/or components, develops risk mitigation plans and ensures risk mitigation is executed.
  • Ensures all system interfaces are identified, owned and managed accordingly.
  • Manages the utilization of engineering resources across the project and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
  • Manage design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products are on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership.
  • Manages engineering staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development.
  • Influences the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
  • Uses high level of judgement to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering.
  • Assesses quality of information given and asks pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offers new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear reactor technologies.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with design control procedures,
    ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
    Minimum Education/Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college; a mechanical or nuclear engineering degree is preferred.
    • Typically, ten plus years of professional experience in engineering after completion of undergraduate study. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
    • Experience designing steam generators is preferred.
    • Experience estimating time and resources needed to execute engineering activities.
    • Requires specialized knowledge within the function of systems engineering.
