X-energy is seeking professionals with nuclear energy experience to join our Quality Assurance team in the role of Senior QA Auditor. This position will be responsible for performing Quality Assurance audits in support of X-energy’s reactor development project. They will ensure the flow down of relevant requirements (CSA N286-12, CSA N286.7, CSA N299, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10CFR21 etc.) to suppliers by interfacing with engineering/design, procurement, and suppliers. This role will also ensure suppliers’ compliance to applicable customer, NRC, DOE and CNSC requirements for all project activities through surveillances, commercial grade surveys, and audits. This includes responsibility for relevant administrative and technical quality decisions. They will apply detailed knowledge, understanding and experience in the functional discipline and its practical application, industry codes, guidelines, and regulations. This position will also actively support safety culture and Quality Assurance activities associated with X-energy’s reactor development related to supply chain activities, graphite, and fuel qualification programs.
Responsibilities
The position will lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities below without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
- Ensure X-energy suppliers comply with the purchase order requirements.
- Assist with supplier evaluations, qualifications, and periodic reviews of their performance.
- Work with Procurement to add suppliers to the approved supplier list.
- Guide the auditors and technical specialists during the audits.
- Plan, organize, and lead audits; prepare the audit reports per planned schedule.
- Report, register, follow-up, and track suppliers’ findings, deficiencies, and observations.
- Troubleshoot quality problems and contribute recommendations/solutions.
- Monitor and measure supplier performance and make recommendations based on analytics.
- Maintain NQA-1 lead auditor status.
- Work with Engineering and Procurement to facilitate supply chain quality assurance process methodologies.
- Assist Engineering in the development of commercial grade dedication packages.
- Assist with conducting internal quality inspections.
- Facilitate and provide on-the-job training to other auditors and technical specialists.
- Assist with implementation of QA Program.
- Support evolution/improvement of the reactor QA Program over the life of the program.
- Play an active role to ensure safety and quality culture is promoted and continually improved.
- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in quality/mechanical/industrial engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Typically, ten years of experience in a relevant quality assurance role required.
- Certified nuclear Lead Auditor credentials, with objective evidence leading and supporting nuclear specific audits.
- Knowledge in Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD).
- Knowledge and experience applying quality assurance and nuclear manufacturing programs requirements and regulations. Examples of quality assurance requirements include 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1, CSA 299, CSA N286-12, CSA 286.7, and ISO 9001.
- Knowledge and understanding across a broad range of nuclear and manufacturing quality issues.
Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is: $125,730 to $160,655.
