National Middle Market Practice Leader
As the National Middle Market P&C Practice Leader at Woodruff Sawyer you'll play a meaningful role in building the future of the company. You'll craft and execute business strategies that drive top line growth, assure a world class client experience, maintain compliance with Woodruff Sawyer internal procedures at both the local and national level, and concurrently attract and retain top talent.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership and Planning
The National Middle Market P&C Practice Leader will be responsible for the creation and execution of a business plan that assures consistent and profitable growth over a one-, three-, and five-year period, including the management of an annual budget at the national level.
Provide thought leadership and collaborate with regional leaders in the creation of business plans that support the national strategies at the local level.
Create and implement an approach to measuring the effectiveness of strategies and tactics at the local and national level. Proactively implement course corrections as necessary to address gaps, operational challenges, and/or changes in market conditions.
Consistently and clearly communicate progress towards goals/results to leadership colleagues, including senior leadership.
Foster a culture of cooperation and joint accountability amongst the sales and service teams within the practice.
Talent Acquisition and Development
Actively maintain a pipeline of quality candidates at all levels within the Middle Market P&C practice across all geographic locations.
Assure that ongoing coaching, mentoring, and development is part of the Middle Market P&C culture and consistently takes place at all levels.
Collaborate with regional leaders and human resources to define clear roles, responsibilities, goals as well as transparent measurements for each role in the practice including regular feedback regarding performance.
Communication and Thought Leadership
Communicate clearly and regularly regarding progress towards goals within the practice as well as internal stakeholders and senior leaders.
Clearly communicate challenges and drivers of the need for change and solicit feedback from within the practice and other internal stakeholders in the development of solutions.
Engage colleagues within the practice and the broader Woodruff Sawyer organization to increase awareness, acceptance, and adoption of the need for continuous improvement.
Market Intel/Woodruff Sawyer brand ambassador/Carrier Relationships
The Market Middle Market P&C Practice Leader should proactively remain current regarding emerging industry issues as well as best practices to position Woodruff Sawyer to respond to changes at the local and national level.
In this role, the ideal candidate will also be responsible for elevating the Woodruff Sawyer brand through visibility and participation in industry events.
Our Middle Market P&C Practice leader will maintain and deepen our relationships with key partner carrier executives to assure that Woodruff Sawyer and the carriers effectively partner to meet the needs of new and existing clients, problem solve, and effectively work with the Woodruff Sawyer service teams on complex client coverage and pricing needs, as well as claim related issue at the local level.
Education & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience preferably with direct reports dispersed across multiple geographic locations.
- College degree required. Advanced degree or advance insurance designations preferred.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills in a sales environment.
- Expert level use of “influence” style leadership within the practice and the broader Woodruff Sawyer organization.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong strategy and business planning skills including a SMART approach to measuring progress.
