Our Employee Benefits team is seeking a Senior Account Manager. Senior Account Managers are responsible for the overall management and service of new and existing business. They act as ambassadors both internally and externally to WS, commanding a high degree of technical knowledge and the ability to speak confidently about the markets and coverages with Account Executives and clients. Senior Account Managers work closely with either a Servicing Account Executive or a Producer to drive strategy and ensure the process is moving along smoothly.

Senior Account Managers manage the largest and most complex accounts. They are responsible for ensuring that the placement process runs smoothly from start to finish, while keeping up to date on market changes and trends and providing expert technical knowledge related to coverage issues. They can also effectively manage team expectations and responsibilities.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a complex book of business with appropriate revenue (multi-state, complex plans, union accounts, alternating funding arrangements).
  • Create client deliverables, participate in client presentations and the strategic planning process.
  • Demonstrate strong communications skills with the ability to provide non-technical explanations to technical matters, and summarize and present information in a clear, concise and accurate written and verbal format.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, clients and other company personnel while consistently exhibiting professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Lead Marketing and/or Renewal process with the ability to analyze proposals/quotes in order to negotiate changes and/or make recommendations to the client.
  • Demonstrate the ability to market and cross-sell additional lines of coverage, involving team members when faced with a challenging issue or to showcase additional Woodruff Sawyer capabilities
  • Assist clients and their employees with elevated issues and questions (claims, etc.)
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to Account Manager, Account Representatives, Account Coordinators. Demonstrate ability to build positive relationships with clients, carriers and team members
  • Coordinate profitability metrics with assigned Account Executive or Producer.
  • Maintain specific industry/coverage/technical expertise and serve as a proactive resource on the team; ability to work directly with a Producer with no AE involvement.
  • Stay up to date with legislation and compliance affecting assigned book of business, demonstrating ability to clearly communicate these details with clients.

  • Participate, develop and lead teams to build better processes and workflows.
  • Participate and lead company-sponsored programs, trainings and events

 

Education & Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years of industry experience; demonstrated ability to resolve more complex client issues.
  • Previous supervisory, training and/or formal mentoring experience desirable; demonstrated ability to be a team builder.
  • Life, Accident and Health license required upon hire.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and In-Design.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and shift focus as priorities change.
This position can be based anywhere in California, with a preference for locations near our California offices.
