The Vice President of Data Analytics is responsible for the success, growth, support, and integration of the Data Analytics department. This person is also responsible for working with all sales teams, service teams, clients, and vendor partners to support data analytics modeling, output, client management, data management, and ad-hoc project-based work.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Create and manage department flow processes, guidelines, ongoing objectives, goals, and strategy.
  • Align department goals, objectives, and processes with those of the organization and Employee Benefits.
  • Oversee all operations within data analytics department.
    • Lead, develop, and train analysts, underwriters, and other colleagues.
      • Implement strategies to improve logical reasoning skills and business intelligence abilities.
      • Conduct annual employee review process and improvement.
    • Responsible for meeting/exceeding goals and objectives put forth by executive leadership team.
      • Responsible for making any necessary process improvements on an as –needed basis.
    • Develop and manage organization-wide metrics for Data Analytics department, and establish relevant data sources.
  • Create and manage actuarial, underwriting, and utilization review models, deliverables, and output.
    • Lead transformation of raw data into actionable marketing and sales opportunities.
    • Become proficient with third party tools and capabilities in this space.
    • Develop strategies to implement effective data analysis and reporting tools for client use.
    • Manage and own sales integration process with third party partners.
  • Develop and manage following list of Data Analytics tools/output.

    • Actuarial software/tools/models
    • Fully-insured experience reports
    • Self-insured experience reports
    • Renewal projection models and methodology
    • Fully-insured renewal evaluations
    • Carrier-based reporting capabilities
    • Ancillary projection models
    • Repricing models
      • Network, Stop Loss, PBM, etc.
      • Plan Design
    • Responsible for ongoing client deliverables, where applicable.
    • Leverage emerging trends via market.
      • External opportunities
        • Carriers, vendor partners
        • Educational, etc.
      • Work with actuarial partners on project-based and/or ad-hoc assignments.

 

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
  • Experience with a carrier and/or benefits firm, medical and pharmacy preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience or more preferred.
  • Working and applicable knowledge of funding platforms: fully-insured, self-insured, and alternative funding.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent math skills required.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, multi-task, and work well under pressure.
  • Effective communications skills both written and verbal for interface with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Ability to work and succeed in a team environment.
  • Above average competency in Microsoft Office software, and other company and discipline-specific software applications required.
