Overview of RDI

You will have multiple dimensions, but with a primary responsibility of coordinating the knowledge products pipeline for WRI India. All WRI-branded knowledge products are required to go through a peer- review process, involving both internal and external experts, to help ensure quality, accuracy, institutional coherence, and a lack of bias in our research. WRI measures the success of publications regarding the quality of research and in ways that support our mission. As part of the WRI India Research, Data and Impact (RDI) team, and alongside the global RDI team, you will coordinate the lifecycle of knowledge products for WRI India.

You will work with the larger RDI team and with program staff to coordinate a knowledge product development process that produces high quality outputs and optimizes for efficiency in time and resources. You will report to the Head of RDI, WRI India.

Overview of the role: 

You will have to demonstrated managerial and inter-personal skills for working in an applied and interdisciplinary policy research institute. You will quickly familiarize yourself with and then use WRI’s procedures, guidelines, and software platforms to help develop knowledge products that follow the Institute’s standards for research integrity, ethical research practice and clear research communication. You will have strong inter-personal skills to engage and work with colleagues across the full range of professional experience and will use their expert judgement to manage the knowledge products lifecycle to maintain speed of the publication process.

You will have a demonstrated interest and commitment to working on advancing knowledge and shaping action in environment, development, and public policy fields. You will also support learning and collaboration across WRI India and take advantage of opportunities to participate in research and writing themselves.

 

How your day will unfold:

·       Manage WRI India’ Knowledge Products Lifecycle.

1.     Track all the knowledge products in WRI India and share the Weekly Pub Update.

2.     Draft the Quarterly Newsletter that highlights selected knowledge products published that quarter.

3.     Manage the allocation of knowledge products to our team of consultant copyeditors for ensuring quality, speed, and cost efficiencies. This also requires working with our roster of consultants.

4.     Manage the life cycle of new knowledge product categories, as and when such products are introduced.

5.     Collaborate with WRI India program teams to track, on a quarterly basis, pub-plans and KPs projected to enter the review process. Update RDI Director and Head about the same.

 

·       Working with Relevant WRI India Teams and Colleagues

1.     Partner with WRI India’s Communications team on the knowledge product production process following the final approval by the RDI lead.

2.     Partner with WRI India’s Communications team on production of non-KP based blogs (i.e. no new analysis, check if citations are needed, track content)

3.     Fielding and directing queries from WRI India colleagues about WRI’s body of guidance related to the lifecycle of knowledge products.

4.     Work with WRI India colleagues to resolve problems that they may face with Editorial Manager and Asana, platforms used by WRI to organize the knowledge products workflow.

5.     Respond requests to RDI about tracking down guidance documents on WRI platform.

 

·       Support and Participate in Research

1.     Assist the RDI Research Coordinator with organizing RDI India events such as brown bags, research cafés, seminars, and data management and organization tasks.

2.     Provide support on RDI India projects, including opportunities for participating in research and writing.

3.     Assist Communications Team in fact-checking Communication Products based on published Knowledge Products.

 

Qualifications and Requirements we seek:

1.     4-7years of relevant experience managing policy-relevant research related to environment, development, public policy, and related fields. Evidence and interest in participating in research.

2.     Interdisciplinary training with undergraduate and master’s degrees that together provided training in the social and natural sciences or engineering disciplines relevant to the fields of development and sustainability.

3.     Demonstrated knowledge or proof of quickly adapting to the use of diverse knowledge management platforms.

4.     Support research teams, at different levels of research experience, with their publication needs.

5.     Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collegial and collaborative fashion in a fast-growing and diverse, multi-national organization.

6.     A commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity within WRI India, and encouraging a supportive, respectful, and open work culture.

7.     An understanding of important environmental and development challenges in India, a natural curiosity and interest in keeping current with the latest research, data and evidence and policies relevant to WRI India’s mission and work.

8.     Excellent oral and written English skills.

9.     Patience and willingness to apply WRI India knowledge products guidance and processes under the constant pressure of timelines.

 

Salary and Benefits:  1100000-1300000 INR CTC Per annum

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
Duration:  1 years as term hire (extendable based on performance and project requirements) 
Location: Delhi, Mumbai 
Start date: As soon as possible.
