About your role:
WRI India is developing an initiative to evaluate potential opportunities for intervention in the district of Madhepura in Bihar that can have lasting impact on mobility, livelihood, industrialisation and agricultural efficiencies. Central to this work is establishing relations and working closely with the town and district administration in Madhepura. WRI India is looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to support its work in this region.
How your Day will unfold:
• Establish and lead engagement with the district administration, municipal council, transport department and other government actors in Madhepura. Occasional engagement with state-level actors will be required.
• Establish relations with local, non-government stakeholders like union bodies, educational institutions, citizen groups, industrial bodies, and other non-government actors in the district.
• Play the role of the primary point of contact in the district for WRI India and its partners
• Undertake extensive research on the mobility and livelihood landscape in the district. Document existing and emerging policy action in the state and other developments in the district.
• Develop presentations and reports. Contribute to writing pieces and peer-reviewed articles by other senior colleagues at WRI India. These could include long-form articles, blog posts, white papers, etc. Support in writing periodic donor reports.
• Support WRI India in organising convening and workshops with multiple stakeholders. Support in outreach and communication of WRI India’s programmes
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:

Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
• Post graduate degree in planning, economics, transport, urban planning or other related fields.
• 2 to 4 years of full-time experience in sustainable development, livelihoods, research, and other related fields. Experience in building relations and working with government stakeholders is essential.
• Experience in coordinating and executing projects and on-ground presence is essential. Good primary and secondary research skills.
• Proficient in spatial software like Q-GIS, Arc GIS, analysis in excel spreadsheets. Knowledge of Python and R will be useful.
• The candidate must be curious, a self-starter, independent, comfortable with ambiguity. Must be able to adhere to deadlines.
• Candidate must be proficient in spoken and written Hindi and English. Other regional languages will be an added advantage
• Candidate must be willing to travel to other parts of Bihar.
Salary and Benefits: 9,50,000 to 12,50,000 CTC PA
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package
Duration: Full time - Limited Term (1 year- extendable)
