Program Overview for Sustainable Cities and Transport

About your role:
WRI India seeks a motivated Project Associate to work on diverse projects that will work in various sectors and domains ranging across sustainable transportation. The ideal candidate should possess skills in quantitative and qualitative research, and mapping and spatial analysis. Candidates who have research experience on one or more of the following areas – sustainable mobility, electric mobility, urban and transport policies, social science, and public policy, will be preferred. The goal is to generate new research, analysis, and evidence to inform policy and practice for sustainable mobility.
How your day will unfold:
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Assist team lead for research on sustainable transport, electric mobility, and policy research and work closely with team members and collaborators within and outside WRI on all aspects of project research, documentation, and administration
- Organize, review, and summarize relevant literature, policy documents, government documents, and data from multiple sources, under the guidance of the Project lead and team
- Engage with government and non-government partners to communicate about ongoing initiatives
- Support and work on project-related presentations, case studies, commentaries, blogs and op-eds, reports, policy briefs, grant proposals, working papers and articles to share and disseminate findings and analysis with different stakeholders
- Take charge of various technical aspects of project delivery, such as government interfacing, partner management, people engagement, project documentation, event management, etc
- Conduct data exploration, quantitative research, and provide analytical solutions and insights to meet project outputs
- Liaise with government partners, academic experts, industry professionals and other external partners to gather primary data, seek collaborations and undertake joint projects
- Contribute and engage with WRI’s research community in India and globally
- Design approaches to address main questions and challenges posed by our research goals and program objectives
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
- Master’s Degree in Transport Engineering /Transport Planning /Economics/Social Science/ Public Policy.
- 2 to 4 years of full-time work experience (post masters) in one or more of the following areas — transport planning, public transport city bus systems, Intermediate Public transport, last mile connectivity, policy research, social sector.
- Good writing and communication skills is a requirement
- Experience in E-mobility related projects is desirable.
- Experience working with Government, civic groups, research institutions and private sector on urban transport projects.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods including primary and secondary data collection and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with spatial analytical tools like Arc GIS/QGIS and any other open-source applications is desirable.
- Knowledge of policy analysis and provide data-oriented methodologies to identify gaps and potential areas of reform.
- Experience in academic writing and publishing to produce high-quality research publications.
- Writing samples need to be attached with the application.
Salary and Benefits: INR 8,00,000 to INR 9,00,000 CTC
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance and project requirements)
Location: Bengaluru/Delhi, India
