IT Sr. Application Architect



The Enterprise Architect (EA) leads, prioritizes and develops the overall enterprise architecture (EA) for the enterprise, in conjunction with the other EA roles, as well as with business and IT leaders.   This position will work collaboratively with other technology leaders to develop the technical components of a next generation system for the Worldwide Express enterprise, including, but not limited to technology stack, platform, data model, services model, integration strategy and demarcation points, etc.  The EA will also maintain a business focus in ensuring the correct alignment of the technology with the business needs, and a technology focus in ensuring the ongoing technology used is complying with the architectural strategy and standards.



  • Exhibits a solid understanding of how the organization's business objectives, opportunities and processes, and what drivers and trends, are influencing the industry and ecosystem. Familiarity with financial metrics such as IRR, capex, and opex.
  • Leads and progresses architectural plans and activities in the organization. Constructively lead and work with other EA team members, as well as with members of other organizational teams.
  • Provides innovative approaches to business outcomes in order to create new solutions that achieve competitive advantage.
  • When more than one viable solution exists, arbitrate amongst contributors and get consensus on the way forward.
  • Enables decision making, secures buy-in, and understands the distribution of power within the organization. Ability to collaborate to deliver results, and to resolve conflicts expediently is essential.
  • Seeks out information internally and externally. EA team members must be able to analyze business proposals and plans, and to identify the applicable architectural solution to address these, bearing in mind the aspects of cost management and risk management.
  • Effectively communicates to different audiences. It is important to be able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in written documents (graphics or text), and to present these coherently and logically.
  • Has a pragmatic and practical ability of the architecture to be implemented. Key to this is an understanding of the issues involved in project development, the language of project managers and, therefore, the ability to engage with the project managers in the deployment of the architecture.
  • Presents unbiased architectural opinions and recommendations to senior management for their decisions. This requires an independent and objective approach to the issues.
  • Learns and understands end-to-end use of systems and products from an end user perspective.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand emerging business needs and opportunities.
  • Seeks to understand what system is required to do and also what it should not do. Sets operational standards and resource usage “budgets”
  • Inspire and motivate the development teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology partners (dszehs)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 15+ years of IT experience, at least 6 in application architecture or related role
  • Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX.
  • Experience working as part of a team defining a completely new software product.
  • Experience working with key technology and modern architectural structures such as AWS, J2EE, SOAP/REST integrations, APIs, Micro-services, etc.
  • Experience with open-source technology such as Linux, Java, Apache,



  • Understanding of the industry, specific WWEX business model, and unique characteristics of the Company.
  • Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX.
