Cloud Engineer


 The Cloud Engineer position applies technology solutions with varying degrees of complexity for both our corporate functions as well as our customer-facing systems. This position will be an important member of our cloud team. Responsibilities include daily operations of cloud infrastructure such as planning and implementing changes, enhancing monitoring, responding to events, and reviewing and optimizing cloud costs.   • Exhibits a solid understanding of how the organization's business objectives, opportunities and processes, and what drivers and trends, are influencing the industry and ecosystem.
  • Experience using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative technical solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, driving data-driven decisions 
  • Develop and implement cloud migration strategies
  • Find opportunities to optimize the utilization of the Cloud instances with emphasis balancing cost, availability and durability/disaster recovery
  • Define the operational processes to effectively manage the cloud environment and integrate with upstream DevOps pipelines and Software as a Service applications
  • Has a pragmatic and practical ability of the cloud solution to be implemented. Key to this is an understanding of the issues involved in project development, the language of development teams and, therefore, the ability to engage with the development teams in the deployment of the architecture.
  • Provides Technical leadership in system integration and promotes best practices in this area
  • Help define and develop the DevOps process for deploying and maintaining solutions within the Cloud environment
  • Evaluate the analytics from the cloud environment to make recommendations for improvements and optimization
  • Lead the technical planning & requirements gathering phases including estimate, develop, test, manage projects, architect and deliver.
  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor. Provide technical support or leadership in the development and continual improvement of service.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand emerging business needs and opportunities.
  • Seeks to understand what system is required to do and also what it should not do. Sets operational standards and resource usage “budgets”
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology partners


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent applicable experience
  • 4+ years of IT experience, at least 1 in infrastructure/operations roles
  • Must have 1+ years of experience with running production application infrastructure in AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Experience working with key technology and modern architectural structures such as AWS, J2EE, SOAP/REST integrations, APIs, Micro-services, etc.
  • Experience with open-source technology such as Linux, Java, Apache
  • Experience with security concepts and technologies (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature), SSL, web service proxies, firewalls, multi-protocol gateways and VPN 
  • Hands-on experience administering Azure AD and AWS IAM beneficial
  • Experience building and ongoing administration with DevOps pipeline tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Chef, Ansible 
  • Experience with agile development methods such as SCRUM, XP, and/or SAFe Agile
  • Experience with configuration management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, containerization, and Platform-as-a-Service technologies such as Cloud Foundry and Openshift
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (RDBMS, NoSQL, Hadoop)
  • Familiarity with network security, encryption technology, and troubleshooting network issues especially as related to Cloud administered SDN (Cisco Meraki, HP Aruba)


  • Understanding of the industry, specific WWEX business model, and unique characteristics of the Company
  • Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX
  • Modern architectural patterns and practical application of patterns
  • Cloud technology and associated providers, software and services
  • SIEM tools/centralized logging, Cloud Security Broker, and Cloud Secure eMail
  • Experience with Office365 beneficial
  • Security gateway configuration beneficial as would experience with security penetration testing
