Business Development Manager

What you’ll do:
Responsible for developing partnerships with major European consumer goods brands, with special attention on merchants in the UK.
- Analyze acquiring market opportunities and needs by major UK/European consumer goods merchants, focusing on Spain as the first target country.
- Cooperate with acquirers to distribute Alipay offer with selected key accounts.
- Accountable for merchant business development and growth operations in the region, drive transactions and user penetration through merchant acquisition, marketing campaigns and daily operation, leveraging our platforms’ capabilities and resource. Drive demonstration of merchant, partner, user value through deep understanding of our platforms.
- Cooperate with Alipay UK/European and headquarters’ functions to achieve agreed objectives.
- Assess Alipay potential to address UK brand’s needs, also through new products and solutions.
- Establish relationships with key decision takers at C-level and operational level with major acquirers and prospect Key Account merchants in Spain.
- Analyze existing and new acquiring partners who may support Alipay in exploiting merchant opportunities.
- Manage the full sales cycle to promote Alipay payment and marketing services with key accounts.
- Coordinate legal & compliance along the commercial negotiation process, where necessary.
- Coordinate product & tech along the implementation and integration of new solutions.
- Monitor acquirers and major merchants’ performances and, where required, propose improvement actions.
What we’re looking for:
- Deep understanding of the online and offline UK consumer goods industry, competitive dynamics at strategic and commercial level.
- Well-connected with major UK/European Key Accounts and ecosystem players (e.g. major acquirers, payment platforms, digital and retail providers …), with C-level and operational relationships with major global acquirers and key merchants.
- On-the-ground experience in or with retail industry is a plus.
- Know-how on acquirers and merchants offline and online payment offering, product solutions, performances.
- Business development skills.
- Strong ability in written and oral communication, with hunter’s sales skills and pioneering spirit.
- Able to work under pressure, within an international environment (UK, Europe, Asia, America), with ability to adapt quickly to strategic changes.
- Know-how of Card payments, Alternative Payments methods (wallets, buy-now-pay-later, account-to-account).
- Be familiar with Chinese/Asian payment market and buying patterns applied to global online shopping and global travel shopping, including the target merchants and the target categories.
- Be familiar with Open Banking landscape in UK in terms of key players; previous experience with Open Banking Payment is a plus;
- Know-how of mobile marketing, digital services and technology innovation trends.
- Cross-regional working experience is preferred.
- Team-working, result orientation, self-entrepreneurship.
- Language: English fluency is a must. Chinese and other European languages are a plus.
