Hybrid (remote + community meeting attendance)

Schedule: Flexible scheduling, typically M-F between the hours of 9-5. Some weekends may be required to attend community events

Job Summary:

 

We are looking for a Community Outreach Specialist to support our treatment access initiative in rural Ohio. The initiative is funded by a federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), focused on expanding access to substance use disorder treatment in rural communities. The role will facilitate on-the-ground relationship building with current and potential community partners, referral sources, and prospective clients.  This role is for a part-time employee who preferably lives somewhere between Hancock and Wayne counties. The Community Outreach Specialist will be crucial in the successful implementation of this project, and will involve in-person interaction with community organizations and staff. 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in developing outreach strategies based on knowledge of the community
  • Track and report partnership building activities, successes, and challenges through Google Sheets
  • Schedule and attend in-person and virtual meetings with key decision makers at targeted community organizations 
  • Represent Workit Health and the project in the community and provide education about our services, the grant project, and our model of care. This includes promoting services through distribution of flyers and running tables at community events
  • Advocate for evidence-based, harm reduction treatment in the community
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
  • Experience building community partnerships focused on healthcare, preferably in a rural setting 
  • Bachelor’s degree; social work, communications, marketing, business or related fields preferred, or 2-3 years of related experience in outreach, community engagement, peer support, or case management 
  • Experience in addiction treatment or recovery support preferred
Personal Qualifications:
  • Reside in Hancock, Hardin, Ashland, Crawford, Wayne, Marion, Erie or Huron County Ohio
  • Have reliable transportation (mileage will be reimbursed)
  • Strong understanding of the needs of rural communities 
  • Comfortable using a variety of software and applications such as Google suites, Zoom, Google Meets, and Slack
  • High level of confidence with face-to-face interaction with community stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Considerate of varying cultural backgrounds and perspectives
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong team player who can take initiative, make decisions, and excels in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information
  • A deep passion for improving health outcomes
