PMO Lead
Description
The PMO Lead is responsible for establishing, standardizing, and optimizing project management practices across the agency. This role leads a team of project managers, business analysts and quality assurance analysts. The PMO Lead ensures delivery excellence by implementing repeatable processes, tools, and frameworks that support efficient, on-time, and on-budget delivery of client projects. This role will report to the Chief Delivery Officer ensuring cross functional support for all areas of client delivery is WOW-ing client.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as billable project/program manager on key large clients to ensure relevance, billability and awareness of client delivery items, challenges, and hurdles team members are experiencing.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of project managers, business analysts, and quality assurance analysts across multiple disciplines and workstreams (e.g., web, creative, marketing).
- Instill a culture of delivery excellence by ensuring all client-facing work aligns to client outcomes and meets quality, budget, and timing standards.
- Define and evolve project management methodologies, standards, templates, and best practices across the agency.
- Continuously assess and refine delivery processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and consistency across all projects.
- Drive adoption of QA frameworks and test strategy across the portfolio, with measurable targets for defect reduction and pre-launch confidence.
- Monitor project portfolios to ensure progress, manage escalations, and identify risks or dependencies.
- Own and manage project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Workfront), and ensure accurate reporting on timelines, budgets, and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with department leads to forecast resourcing needs and allocate PMO resources accordingly.
- Serve as a bridge between delivery teams, executive leadership, and clients to ensure visibility and alignment.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in project or program management, with 2+ years in a PMO leadership or equivalent role.
- Agency or consultancy experience required, preferably in digital marketing, web, or creative services.
- Deep understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools and portfolio reporting dashboards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven track record of building and scaling delivery excellence programs, including implementation of standardized QA and project governance frameworks.
- Experience managing onshore and offshore/nearshore team combinations is a plus.
- PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification is a plus.
