Principal Open Source Technologist/Architect

Location: US or Canada Remote

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Lead Wind River's open source strategy and contributions for eLxr, engaging with Linux kernel, Debian, Yocto, and related communities. Shape technical direction while representing Wind River in the open source ecosystem.

ABOUT YOU

  • Drive technical contributions to key open source projects
  • Represent Wind River at industry events and technical conferences
  • Build and maintain relationships with open source communities
  • Guide internal teams on open source best practices
  • Develop strategic roadmap for open source engagement
  • Influence upstream projects' technical direction  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven record of Linux kernel or major open source contributions
  • Experience such as package maintainer (Debian preferred)
  • 10+ years software development experience
  • Strong technical leadership background
  • Excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Track record of public speaking at technical conferences
  • Deep understanding of open source development models

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Debian Developer or maintainer status
  • Linux kernel maintainer experience
  • Yocto Project contributions
  • Experience building developer communities
  • Background in enterprise Linux distributions
  • History of technical blogging/writing

COMPENSATION              

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $156,000 to $205,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $165,000 to $215,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
