ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

The role will be part of the Finance team based in Costa Rica. In this role you will directly assist the Credit & Collections and Accounting organizations with the ongoing operations associated with VAT/Sales tax and Master Data administration reporting into the Supervisor Credit & Collections.  This role will be responsible for day-to-day operation related to US and Canada Sales Tax, the proper administration of the US and Canada tax portals and tax related Master Data in Vertex, Oracle, and Salesforce, it will also assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.

 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Accountable for all US and Canada day to day Sales tax operations.
  • Supporting sales tax coding automation process (Vertex).
  • Preparation and extraction of related analysis and reports.
  • Review of Indirect Tax related source documents, reports, and filings.
  • Preparation of templates and calculations as input for VAT compliance process.
  • Reconciliation of sales tax accounts.
  • Participation in sales tax and master data related projects.
  • Assist with SOX control documentation.
  • Ad-hoc activities connected with Sales Tax as matters.
  • Handle all customer creation or modification requests.
  • Audit supporting documentation for the creation of Customers.
  • Update and maintain key information required for new entries into the ERP Databases (Oracle & Salesforce).
  • Maintain adherence to data process standards, governance, and internal audit requirements.
  • Maintain relations with requestors in various business units and key Finance/Accounting/Sales associates to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Continuous adaptation of Sales Tax processes to meet current business needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in sales tax and Income taxes.
  • Accounting experience.
  • Experience with the Tax Compliance Software Vertex or similar.
  • General understanding of corporate federal and state income tax and sales tax filings a plus.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships throughout the sales, accounting, and finance organizations.
  • Experience researching tax questions and issues preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
  • Highly organized, work pro-actively and efficiently by completing tasks and deadlines, hands-on individual with initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of Oracle, Vertex and Salesforce would be of benefit.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, focus on generating results and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills highly desired.
  • Fluent in English speaking and writing.
