ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 
Silicon and board manufacturers around the world are looking to gain a competitive advantage in this digital first world and are looking to Wind River as a trusted and strategic partner in their intelligent edge journey.  Wind River is answering this call through our delivery of modern, edge-hardened, and performance tuned, real-time and general-purpose Edge operating platforms. 
As a Senior Embedded Solution Architect - Silicon and ODM Partners, you will join a highly skilled Field Engineering Organization, working directly with our Global Partnerships team to drive platform modernization for our partners via adoption of Wind Rivers Edge Operating Systems. 
Responsibilities 
Understand the Customer 
  • Work in conjunction with our Global Partnerships organization to build close relationships with technical leaders at key Wind River partners and understand their needs, current challenges, business requirements, upcoming products details, as well as how they may map to current and future Wind River offerings. 
  • Discover and deeply understand technical specifications of partner products, including hardware capabilities, software dependencies, proprietary frameworks, and how their customers intent to use the devices.  Leverage this understanding to influence both Partner and Wind River Product direction, leading to successful technical partnerships. 
  • Understand the wholistic partner ecosystem including their relevant customers, potential co-build, and co-sell opportunities, as well as the competitive landscape. 
Demonstrate the Art of the Possible 
  • Wow customers by crafting unique narratives, telling stories to help them understand the benefits that a truly modernized, edge-native, platform can bring. 
  • Lead engaging, collaborative discussions, that highlight the value of Wind River Edge platforms. 
  • Leverage past experiences and real-world stories to build customer confidence that they can achieve modernization goals. 
Become a Trusted Customer Advisor 
  • Leverage your specific experience and expertise, as well as relationships with other Wind River subject matter experts, to guide partners in developing effective solutions. 
  • Build trust and deep relationships with strategic customer executives, business/technical decision makers, and influencers by creating partnership and demonstrating a win-win mindset. 
Architect Technical Solutions 
  • Run engaging workshops and architecture design sessions to collaboratively explore potential ways to transform partners’ intelligent edge products. 
  • Demonstrate the specific value Wind River Edge products, vision, roadmap, and third-party ecosystem can bring to the partner, leading to winning the technical decision for customers to adopt Wind River products as part of their solution. 
  • Leverage your deep understanding of customer requirements, environments, existing tools, goals, and culture to ensure resulting designs can be successfully implemented and clearly map to expected business outcomes. 
  • Identify and escalate immediate technical roadblocks by working closely with the product, engineering, sales, and field engineering organizations to accelerate customer adoption. 
  • Work with the customer to develop a plan for adopting Wind River Edge products, including milestones with delivered technical and business valueEnsure this plan extends to future use cases and opportunities within the customer following a “land and expand” approach. 
  • Serve as hands-on technical leadership, working with Field Application Engineers, other Solution Architects, and Professional Services to guide final design, development, and deployment through the pre-sales and initial implementation phases.  
  • Work with the Global Partnerships team to produce detailed RFIs and RFPs when necessary, and work to move to a collaborative design partnership when possible. 
Champion the Voice of the Partner 
  • Work with your peers to serve as a unified voice of the customer, collaborating to create cohesive immediate product needs and identify long-term roadmap desires, provide detailed and prioritized feedback, and quantify potential monetary opportunity for addressing requests. 
  • Leverage your unique visibility to partner needs to highlight potential new markets and approaches to leadershipWork with marketing to ensure our public messaging meets the desires of our partners and their customers. 
Be a Technology Advocate  
  • Participate in relevant conferences, events, and technology summits to build community trust and promote Wind River technology, case studies and solution approaches both internally and publicly. 
  • Contribute back to the open-source ecosystem surrounding embedded Linux and partner technologies.

ABOUT YOU 
Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success 
  
  • Deep experience with embedded systems development and deployment approaches across general purpose and real-time operating systems. 
  • Demonstrated background of technical expertise in Linux, including a deep understanding of the kernel, system and service managers, containers, virtualization, software packaging and delivery ecosystems, board support, and more. 
  • A history of implementing complex and high value technical solutions leading to winning customer and partner technical decisions, including developing demos, PoCs, and leading implementation pilots. 
  • Understanding of best practices around edge security hardening, performance tuning, and operational management of embedded Linux devices. 
  • Demonstrated success in leading and closing sales opportunities in the embedded platform and devices ecosystem. 
  • Highly adaptable team player who can independently ramp up fast on cutting edge technologies and accomplish goals in a fast-paced agile environment. 
  • Ability to understand both technical and business-related customer problems, then architect an unequivocal solution comprising Wind River product and technologies. 
  • Skilled in leading whiteboarding sessions and reaching collaborative solutions with technical influencers and technical management audiences. 
  • Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills, and a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiencesincluding the ability to captivatingly present ideas and solution approaches to C-Level executives to gain their sponsorship. 
  • Able to build strong technical relationships with key customer stakeholders and drive consensus on proposed solutions. 
  • Ability to travel when required. 
  
Technical Qualifications 
  • BSc / MSc degree (Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree or experience). 
  • 5+ years of experience w/Linux, including major distributions as well as embedded Linux and The Yocto project. 
  • 5+ years working in edge solution architecture and experience in leading customer-facing projects comprising a diverse and global team. 
  • 5+ year working with edge hardware vendors and manufacturers. 
  • Prior experience in leading large-scale projects and working in partnership ecosystems will be preferred. 
  • Prior experience working with VxWorks and Wind River Linux will be preferred. 
BENEFITS 
Compensation        
The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $142,900 to $228,300 plus bonus for residents in the states of Colorado, New York and New Jersey; and $150,000 to $195,000 plus bonus for residents in the states of California and Washington, and the NYC area. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, 12 paid holidays.
