Job Summary
The Distribution Manager leads and manages all aspects of the plant's distribution operations, including goal setting, daily workflow organization, and ensuring quality standards and objectives are met. This hands-on leader sets the example by actively engaging on the floor to support and motivate the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse distribution operations across all shifts.
- Manage receiving, storage, movement, and shipping to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with safety (OSHA), regulatory, and quality control standards.
- Oversee transportation logistics, ensuring adherence to DOT regulations.
- Develop and implement efficient logistics processes.
- Analyze operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency and customer service.
- Monitor and manage budgets, making recommendations for improvements.
- Conduct and schedule training sessions to maintain a skilled workforce.
- Collaborate with management to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Ensure shipments meet deadlines and track the progress of major deliveries.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing and 5–7 years in distribution management.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities with the capability to lead by example.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Four-year college degree with a concentration in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution or a closely related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted in place of degree requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
5 + years of experience working in a Warehouse Manager/Distribution Manager role.
Working Conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role requires a combination of physical activity and adaptability. The Distribution Manager will spend time sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional need to stoop, climb, or lift light materials or equipment (25–50 lbs).
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates primarily in an indoor warehouse environment, which may include exposure to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises, and bright lights. As a working manager, this individual is expected to lead by example, stepping in to assist and work alongside the team in a hot warehouse environment as needed
