Sr. Plate Operator
Wilsonart, Temple, has an immediate opening for Sr. Plate Operators. These individuals will operate plate lift and aligns/assembles the treated decorative and core material under direction of the Back-up Operator/Press Operator/Team Lead and or Supervisor. Performs other tasks as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Retrieves and positions tables of component material to be laid up for the production process
- Inspects component material, plates and completed laminate
- Identifies plate damage and alerts product quality
- Lays up the component material and lays off completed laminate according to the production process
- Assemble and align the component material and plates according to the production process
- Handles the movement of stainless steel plates and carrier plates
- Initiates corrective action if production operations are not to standard
- Conducts a visual quality check of all component material, plates, and of completed product
- Inserts the thermal wire and attaches to posts
- Perform plate changes
- Performs lock-out/tag-out procedures and preventative maintenance checks
- Participates in the Wilsonart Continuous Improvement system
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules and regulations governing work standards
- Knowledge of Pressing manufacturing process and component material utilized
- Knowledge of basic mathematics sufficient to add and subtract
- Skill in hand and eye coordination
- Ability to identify patterns and finishes
- Ability to identify colors and shades
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to accurately record information on production schedules
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to visually detect product imperfections and defects
- Ability to communicate well in oral and written form at all levels of the organization
- Ability to read and understand the ISO Procedures
- Ability to read, understand and interpret the Black Book.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE
1+ years
One year of work experience required.
Six months of Production Helper experience in the Pressing Department
If no candidates possess this experience, then the Company will accept experience in Manufacturing or Distribution
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50-100 lbs.
ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
