Training & Development Manager
 
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Wilsonart’s training and development strategy. The position will oversee the Training and Development team accountable for creating and maintaining standardized onboarding programs, skill certification pathways, and documented standard work instructions for each operational role. This role will collaborate closely with Operations, HR, and the Transformation team to ensure training aligns with business goals, safety and quality standards, and future technological initiatives.
A successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate organizational needs into scalable training programs that strengthen workforce capability and support employee retention.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and implement structured training programs for new hires and employees transitioning into new roles to ensure seamless integration and skill development.
• Develop and maintain standardized onboarding, skill certification, and training materials across all manufacturing functions.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to develop, document, and maintain standard work instructions for each position, ensuring consistent and efficient processes.
• Partner with the Transformation team to align training content and workforce readiness with future technology, automation, and process redesign initiatives.
• Develop and deliver leadership development programs that build front-line, mid-level, and senior-level leadership capabilities.
• Measure the effectiveness of training programs and implement continuous improvement plans based on performance and feedback data.
• Lead and coach Training Specialists to ensure consistent delivery and quality of training across sites.
• Manage the company’s learning management systems (LMS), ensuring version control, accessibility, and compliance.
• Work with external vendors and partners to deliver high-quality, cost-effective training solutions.
• Prepare and manage the annual training and development budget.
• Partner with HR, EHS, Legal, IT and Operations to ensure compliance training is up to date and effectively executed.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on training effectiveness, workforce capability, and succession readiness.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance measurement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and influence leaders at all levels.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Experience in developing and sustaining standard work documentation and role-based skill pathways.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and document management platforms.
• Ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and safety compliance preferred.
 
Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial/Operations Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in training, learning, or organizational development, including 2+ years leading a team in a manufacturing or operational environment.
Preferred but Not Required:
• Master’s degree in Organizational Development or a related field.
• Experience implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) or training technology solutions.
