Pay Starts at $22.88/hr + Shift Premium
Sunday-Thursday 7pm-5am

Characteristics of the Class:
Assist the saw operator in cutting material to specific measurements to fill customer needs.  To perform other tasks as required.
  • To assist the saw operator in setting up the table for cutting the material.
  • To assist in cutting the material to meet the needs of the customer. (Example: hand loading or offloading material)
  • Fill in as a backup Saw Operator and other board-related tasks as needed.
  • To check the cut made by the saw and the overall visual and dimensional quality of the product.
  • Maintain the hopper for collection of offal.
  • Place or deliver the cut material to the designated area.
  • Maintain housekeeping to provide a safe work environment. 
  • Observe all safety and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) requirements.
  • Operate applicable lift equipment.
  • Regular Attendance Required.
Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the Finishing Department and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards. 
  • Knowledge of the finished product types, finishes, and patterns.
  • Ability to read a tape measure. 
  • Ability to operate machinery in a comfortable and safe manner.
  • Ability to enter data on the saw interface (computer) 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and work history
Experience: 1 Year of work experience (Manufacturing Preferred)
 
WORKING CONDITIONS 
Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Tasks involve pushing/pulling the material up to 75 lbs., lifting up to 75 lbs. from the floor to shoulder level, carrying up to 50 lbs. and standing and walking during a minimum ten-hour shift.  Ability to work around and move across uneven work surfaces.

Environment:   Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
