JOB SUMMARY

To monitor and maintain power and energy needs in the form of steam, water, air pressure, and electrical usage for Fletcher plant daily operation.  Perform other tasks as required under the direction of the maintenance supervisor and maintenance foreman. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor and keep a daily log of oil, gas, water usage, and operating levels

Monitor, check, troubleshoot, and service all boiler room pumps and equipment and process systems.

Monitor and check boilers overall operations, troubleshoot and assist maintenance personnel during repairs and troubleshooting, make repairs, report problems and change problem sight glasses promptly.

Monitor and log all Title V Air Permit logs accurately and on time.

Responsible for the daily testing and maintenance of the boiler room process water systems.

Responsible for the operation of the powerhouse equipment safely and efficiently.

Preventative maintenance and cleaning of assigned equipment.

Daily testing of all boiler operations and safety controls.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, floor level through management.

Ability to perform as a team player.

Maintain a clean work environment

Assist in the department clean-up

Follow all department and company safety guidelines

Attend daily department safety toolbox meetings

Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the boiler room facilities and department and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.

Ability to read and understand gauge readings. 

Ability to operate equipment comfortably and safely.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of Boiler Room and/or Industrial Mechanical Maintenance experience desired with the ability to keep accurate and neat records.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium work.  Tasks involve pushing/pulling, lifting, and handling material up to 100 pounds plus standing and walking during a minimum twelve-hour shift. Some tasks involve climbing up to 65 feet above floor level.

ENVIRONMENT:

Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises that cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers, and yards/grounds staff
