Today, Wilsonart manufactures and distributes high pressure laminates and other engineered surfacing materials and components used in furniture, office and retail space, countertops, worktops and other applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing and equipment processes by studying products and manufacturing systems and methods. In addition, this position will lead complex projects independently with minimal supervision.
- Problem Solve: Utilize tools such as Process Mapping, SIPOC, PSP, and FMEA, to identify and prioritize root cause issues. Develop improvement/correction plans for identified root causes
- Trouble Shooting: Work with operations and maintenance to solve problems as they arise in the manufacturing process
- Continuous Improvement: Lead teams and initiatives focused on improvement of:
- KPIs such as, safety, yield, productivity, quality, etc.
- Design and plan plant layouts for improved process flow and optimizing space requirements
- Conduct research and analysis to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing
- Participate in activities to support Wilsonart’s strategic Sustainability and Lean initiatives
- Technical Expert: Develop an actionable understanding of processes and equipment to function as an SME to the operations group
- Continual Learning: Stay abreast of current developments in the fields related to our current process and identify improvement/upgrade opportunities that will improve the business
- Project Management: Manage capital projects effectively including, scheduling, planning, budgeting, organizing and executing

- Experience in identifying improvement opportunities, evaluating alternative solutions, and justifying the capital required to implement the optimal solution
- Proven track record of measurable KPI improvement initiatives/projects.

- Demonstrated ability to work on cross functional teams to achieve common business objectives
- Process Flow: Experience with machine or process layout.
- Leadership Skills: Lead by example as creative and highly innovative self-starter with a demonstrated ability to master the details of manufacturing processes and plant operations.
- Self- motivated and willing to seek out opportunities for improvement within the framework of overall strategic goals.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams to successfully complete project/process initiatives
- Communication and Organization: Clear and concise communication and organization
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience successfully managing complex projects through the entire project lifecycle from initiation to closeout
Technology and Tools: Demonstrated experience using the following tools and technology:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
EXPERIENCE: 0-5 years of engineering or related experience in an industrial setting. Project or Process Engineering experience preferred. Registration as a Texas Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain same a plus
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 15-25%
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting in the same location of standing/walking; required to stoop, climb or lift light material (10-20lbs) or equipment.
ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
