Service Operator (Material Handler)
Description
Characteristics of the Class
Transports product to the Presses using transport table(s) and lift. Perform other tasks as required.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Return pattern boards to the pattern racks or assembly.
2. Deliver any left off or damaged pattern replacements to the press.
3. Participates in the Lean process.
4. Conduct pre-shift lift in inspections and reports any maintenance issues (both lifts daily).
5. Obtain run numbers for runs for transferring to presses and return empty table.
6. Keep lay-up stations supplied with empty tables.
7. Deliver needed material to presses for lay-up and ensures the correct core ticket matches the run loaded.
8. Assist Assembly in loading assembly runs and keeping next runs in order, to ensure no down time.
9. Regular Attendance Required.
Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
•Knowledge of safety standards applicable to work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
•Must be trained to operate lift.
•Ability to understand and follow directions.
•Ability to work independently.
•Ability to read and understand production schedules.
•Working knowledge of Oracle to read assembly decorative issue screen and pattern pull screens.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
High School Diploma/Equivalency or will consider a combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
1 year lay-up experience in Assembly or Pressing and equipment/material handling. If no applicants possess this experience, the Company will accept six (6) months manufacturing equipment and handling experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy work – tasks involving pushing/pulling, lifting and standing or using force equal to handling materials of 25-75 pounds plus walking and standing during a minimum of a 10-hour shift.
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff.
