Operations Manager - Company Owned Distribution

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Manager, Warehouse Operations will oversee and optimize operational effectiveness of metro distribution centers. Reports to Director, Sales. Performs other tasks as required.
Candidate must be located within driving distance of a major airport. Travel will be 25-50%.
- Drive Safety improvements, processes, and reduce injury rate across warehouses
- Improve Key operational performance metrics across all warehouses (AR, Service rates, inventory optimization)
- Drive key operational projects for commercial organization: such as warehouse expansions, customer service consolidation, and any acquisition related items
- Manage and plan warehouse capital projects and develop 3 year plan for capital spend
- Implement and execute on improved operational processes (standardized) across our warehouse network.
- Partners with the Metro Leaders and surveys proposed locations to determine feasibility of establishing regional/metro warehouses.
- Responsible for the professional development and mentoring of key individuals in the organization.
- Develops a sound short and long-range plan for the organization: Assures that profit or year-end goals are attained.
- Knowledge of applicable safety standards for warehousing operations and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards and DOT regulations, to include transportation of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of inventory systems and product inventoried.
- Knowledge of warehousing and transportation functions.
- Knowledge of products marketed.
- Ability to present information in writing and verbally.
- Knowledge of sales/marketing techniques.
- Ability to travel 25-50%.
- Ability to make sound business decisions based on analysis.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of operation and/or warehouse management experience
- Experience in the building materials industry or distribution industry is strongly desired.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree Required or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1yr experience may substitute for 1yr of degree
