Job Purpose and Function

The Retail System Administrator (RSA) plays a vital role in managing the software and hardware systems that ensure smooth operations in our retail locations. This role demands strong time management, prioritization, communication skills, and adaptability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the company. The RSA will oversee the configuration, installation, maintenance, and documentation of point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail technologies. This position works closely with Operations, Construction, and IT teams to align short-term objectives with long-term business goals.
 
 
How You’ll Make an Impact

Key Accountabilities: 

  • POS Systems Management: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot point-of-sale hardware and software in retail locations.
  • Hardware and Software Support: Maintain and support back-office systems, training hardware, and IoT/Loyalty devices across all Dash In locations.
  • Retail Technologies: Configure and support store technologies, including:
    • Customer self-service systems
    • Kitchen production systems
    • Car wash systems
    • Digital price signs
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage vendor contracts and relationships to ensure optimal support and service delivery.
  • Equipment Inventory: Maintain an accurate inventory of all hardware, including tracking warranties and end-of-life status.
  • Deployment and Upgrades: 
    • Create and manage master software images for system deployments.
    • Ensure all systems remain up to date, secure, and functioning effectively after upgrades.
    • Collaborate with the Construction team on IT installations and deployments for new locations.
  • Lab Environment Management: Maintain an up-to-date lab environment for business users to test and train effectively.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration between systems and resolve issues arising from upgrades.
  • Documentation and Processes: Document all processes thoroughly and keep documentation current.
  • Support Escalations: Work with support and field teams to resolve escalated issues promptly.
  • Data Quality: Maintain systems and processes that generate accurate, accessible data for business use.
 
 
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications: 
  • Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years in system administration; experience in the convenience store or fuel industry is a plus.
    • POS system experience (NCR preferred).
    • Familiarity with Verifone, Gilbarco, Windows PowerShell, SQL scripting, imaging software, and price sign technologies (Able, Datronics) is strongly preferred.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
    • Capability to commute to retail locations or company headquarters up to 5 days per week.
  • Driver’s Requirements:
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Must be able and willing to utilize personal vehicle for travel throughout our retail operating markets. Mileage reimbursement and/or vehicle expense reimbursement programs are offered by Wills Group accordingly.
Availability and Travel:  

  • Hybrid Work Schedule: This hybrid role complies with our company’s hybrid telework schedule. Our operating days and hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with in-office days being Tuesday through Thursday, reserving Monday and Friday as work-from-home.
  • Flexibility: In this field-based role, flexibility may be required according to the needs of the business, with travel required throughout the RSA’s assigned region and/or within our retail operating markets (DE, MD, NC, VA), typically 2-3 days per week. Occasionally, business needs may require periodic work obligations outside of core business hours, including an on-call rotation twice per month.
  • Travel: This role may require other occasional travel, including overnight stays for training, conferences, or other events with reimbursement available for approved accommodations and/or expenses.
  • Vehicle Use: This role requires utilization of your personal vehicle for travel; mileage reimbursement and/or vehicle expense reimbursement programs are offered by Wills Group accordingly.
