FROZEN FOODS SELECTOR AND CASE PICKER (Night Shift)

Position Summary

The Frozen Foods Selector and Case Picker (Night Shift) plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely fulfillment of customer and retail store orders within a temperature-controlled distribution environment. This position is responsible for selecting cases, replenishing inventory, verifying product accuracy, and preparing orders for shipment while maintaining food safety, inventory accuracy, and cold-chain integrity.

The associate utilizes RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to execute daily picking, replenishment, and inventory transactions. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to case pick accuracy, knowledge of frozen food handling requirements, and the ability to work safely and productively in a fast-paced night shift operation. Working closely with Team Leads, Supervisors, Inventory Control, and Shipping teams, this role helps ensure service level excellence and customer satisfaction.


Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Order Picking & Fulfillment

  • Accurately select customer and retail store orders using RF scanners and WMS-directed workflows.
  • Pick cases according to assigned waves, routes, and operational priorities.
  • Verify item quantities, product codes, lot numbers, expiration dates, and product condition during selection.
  • Build pallets according to established safety, quality, and customer standards.
  • Maintain high levels of case pick accuracy while meeting productivity goals.
  • Follow established procedures for handling catch weight and fixed weight products.
  • Ensure frozen products maintain temperature integrity throughout the fulfillment process.
  • Meet nightly order volume and shipping deadlines.

2. Inventory Handling & Replenishment

  • Replenish active pick locations as assigned.
  • Verify inventory locations prior to picking and replenishment activities.
  • Report inventory shortages, overages, damages, and location discrepancies.
  • Follow FEFO (First Expired, First Out) inventory rotation practices.
  • Maintain organized and accurate inventory locations throughout assigned areas.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory verification activities as required.
  • Assist with inventory recovery and slotting activities when needed.

3. WMS & RF Scanner Operations

  • Utilize RF scanners and Warehouse Management System (WMS) technology to perform all assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all inventory movements and order transactions are completed accurately.
  • Report scanner, printer, and system issues to leadership.
  • Follow all required scanning and transaction procedures to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Verify inventory and product information before completing transactions.
  • Assist with resolving basic scanning errors and transaction discrepancies.

4. Quality, Accuracy & Audits

  • Participate in case audits and order accuracy verification processes.
  • Ensure products are selected according to customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Verify labels, quantities, weights, and product information before pallet completion.
  • Minimize selection errors, product damage, and fulfillment defects.
  • Support warehouse initiatives focused on quality and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain accountability for individual productivity and accuracy performance.

5. Safety & Cold Chain Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA, HACCP, GMP, food safety, and company safety policies.
  • Properly wear required PPE while working in freezer and refrigerated environments.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and other approved warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain freezer temperature integrity while handling products.
  • Immediately report safety concerns, damaged equipment, or product quality issues.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards within assigned work areas.

6. Teamwork & Operational Support

  • Work collaboratively with Team Leads, Supervisors, Inventory Control, Shipping, and fellow associates.
  • Support nightly operational goals by maintaining productivity, accuracy, and attendance expectations.
  • Assist with warehouse projects and special assignments as needed.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities to support operational flexibility.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ years of warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, grocery, retail, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Experience with order fulfillment, case picking, retail order selection, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory accuracy and replenishment processes preferred.
  • Understanding of catch weight and fixed weight products preferred.
  • Ability to accurately select products while maintaining productivity standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy cases throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in freezer and refrigerated environments while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Reliable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
