Principal Project Manager

Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON) is seeking a Project Manager to serve our linear permitting client base, focusing on environmental and engineering services for power and utility and/or pipeline clients. This position will be part of a nationwide WESTON team that serves energy and power projects for private industry clients throughout North America.


The Project Manager (PM) is the lead individual responsible for maintaining project performance and client satisfactionThe PM leads the project team in client coordination, preparing project work plans and technical reports, directing field survey teams, and interacting with regulatory agencies on behalf of our clients. This individual is responsible for the financial management on all phases of a project including development and management of scopes of work associated with subcontractors. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients, project staff, subcontractors, regulators and other project stakeholders. Specific familiarity with existing and emerging environmental requirements such as federal, state, and local permitting for linear projects is necessary.  Experience with state PUC processes, FERC processes, NEPA, and/or water resources regulations is a plus.


  • Maintain project scope, schedule and budget; perform or assure that quality control is accomplished for written deliverables
  • Oversee and maintain project requirements for ensuring health and safety of all assigned or involved
  • Provide technical leadership
  • Manage client-focused teams including mentoring of junior staff
  • Communicate scientific and technical information to clients and/or internal audiences through oral briefings, written documents, and formal meetings
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to determine project schedules
  • Support the development of proposals including the technical approach, budgets, and schedules
  • Cultivate new and grow existing relationships with clients; as well as pursue new business opportunities as a partner with WESTON’s Siting, Licensing and Permitting Client Service Managers and other Project Managers


The ideal candidate will primarily be in a Mid-Atlantic or Northeast-based office (West Chester, PA; Edison, NJ; or Glastonbury, CT). Some travel will be required based on project and client locations. Field work site conditions include working near or adjacent to heavy construction job sites and equipment.


  • Possess a B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Biology, or Environmental Science or a related field (i.e., planning, environmental studies, or a closely related discipline)
  • 10+ years of experience in permitting for capital and O&M projects
  • A minimum of 5 years must include management responsibilities for these projects
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and guidance including Siting Boards, BLM, USFS, USFWS, USACE, as well as experience with federal, state and local regulators
  • The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following technical skill sets:
    • prior experience with capital linear projects in several states
    • strong agency relationships
    • FERC Section 7 experience (applications and/or third-party NEPA experience)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to work accurately, while handling multiple priorities and requirements
  • Ability to direct team members to the successful completion of projects or tasks
  • Excellent proof-reading and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, and clients, as well as outside business associates
  • Must possess solid, practical skills in Microsoft Office applications [spreadsheet (Excel), word processing (Word), scheduling (Project)]
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from client, managers, and staff
  • Experience generating technical proposals and associated cost estimates
